About The Final Boss Dungeon

Hello my name is Brandon, I have 20+ years experience from D&D 3.5, 4th, 5th Edition, and 5E 2024. I use 5th 2024 edition with some ever-evolving homebrew rules that are voted on in my Discord. We use Roll 20 for our VTT. I have thousands of maps and premium membership to allow for an immersive adventure. Discord is how we Voice chat with optional Webcams. D&D Beyond for character creation. I prefer D&D Beyond because I can easily make custom items for your character that will integrate with your character sheet. I enjoy creating a custom experience for the players. Such as custom character arcs, a nemesis to challenge your character, and defining choices that will make you wonder what would have happened if you chose differently. 3hrs with me and you will be going to work the next day bragging to your friends about your adventures.

I became a GM because

I wanted to tell stories the way I always wanted mine to be told. With bold rewards, and even bolder consequences.

My favorite system of all Time is

5th Edition with my own set of Homebrew

When I'm not running games I'm...

Studying for my RN Degree, playing video games, training my dogs, or hanging with my family.

How The Final Boss Dungeon runs games

The #1 rule is Everyone deserves to have fun and feel involved. Each character with a detailed background will be given a story arc. The story arc will include challenges to overcome, rewards specifically for them, and a connection to the central plot. I will often review character sheets and create encounters that allow for character abilities/spells to be utilized. Ex: If I have a monk I will try to include an archer to force them to utilize their deflect mechanic. I use voices for characters of import or characters of levity. There is nothing better than opening a scene with a mermaid call center connecting your sending stone call sounding like a 1920 Boston Operator. "Welcome to the She B*tch call center how may I direct your call?"

I prep by

Reviewing player choices last session, review any module we might be using, and then make any changes necessary to make the story more impactful to their decisions.

My games focus on...

Your story within the story.

When it comes to voices

I give voices to reoccurring characters, unusual encounters, and characters of note.

The Final Boss Dungeon's ideal table

Role-playing is of the utmost importance. Power builds are saved for one shots. Players remember the mission and has interest in others side quests.

I love it when a player

Adds flavor to spell descriptions, attacks, etc

I think metagaming...

Is great for new players. It helps them understand the mechanics of the game and make decisions based on that. However, for those that like to roleplay. Metagaming takes the spice of life out of the game.

I think min/maxing...

Is fine, if you powerbuild you should expect to be seen as the greatest threat and treated as such.
