About me

I'm a long-time player and GM, and I frequently play online using Roll20, Discord, Fantasy Grounds, and Zoom, but I am relatively new to the StartPlaying scene. When GM'ing I try to host welcoming, non-judgmental, mature, and respectful games that focus on maximizing player fun, geniality, and camaraderie. The main joy of GM'ing for me is the constant astonishment and delight I feel witnessing the players' wit, creativity, and humor (and the improvisational excitement involved in going along with them to the unexpected places they inevitably want to go while trying to stay just a few steps ahead). I love the collaborative storytelling that arises from roleplaying games. I tend to prefer more character development, interaction, roleplay, and theater-of-the-mind style play to heavy maps-and-miniatures-style combat, but I also do like action, and I also really enjoy using handouts, maps, photos, and other visuals during play. I use safety tools when GM'ing including: conducting pre- and post-game discussions with and among players, maintaining a no-questions-asked open-door policy, and X, N, and O cards and "lines and veils" throughout play.
