About me
Hi! I'm Nicole part-time game designer, author, artist, and Game Master. I've been doing this since I was a kid, I'd play Dragon Age or Mass Effect turn the game off and still have an itch that just pressing buttons on the controller couldn't scratch. Unbeknownst to me, those notebooks filled with class ideas and rules and those after school nights around the kitchen table with my siblings would turn into one of my favorite hobbies. Eventually, life got hectic, and I lost that spark, I went to school for fine arts, theater, and improv. During my closing years in college, I got introduced to a little show on Geek and Sundry and couldn't believe that the thing I used to do at my grandmother's kitchen table was something, so many people were into. So I picked up a Dungeon Master's Handbook and the rest was history. I've been a Game Master and a Player since 2017 and have been telling amazing stories for as long as I can remember. My passion is for the moment to moment enjoyment of the hobby, the moments where we cry, laugh, and cheer for our imaginary heroes. I'm a dramatic girl who runs dramatic games filled with intrigue and personable characters. I like cinematic and action packed campaigns, inspired by all the media that I consumed growing up. Game likes Dragon Age, Persona, Dark Souls, Jet Set Radio, and shows like FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, and Samurai Champloo. Expect to immerse yourself in the story and world we create together at the table!
GM Style
My GM Style varies from game to game and from table to table. I like to keep my style dynamic and fluid to best accommodate the type of game we are playing and the people we are playing with. Usually, however, my style is heavily skewed towards cinematic moments and rule of cool. I like to spotlight my players and their characters and always live the floor open for them to do something amazing! I encourage building off of one another's narratives to really make everyone at the table shine. My games tend to be role-playing medium to heavy. However, this isn't at the expense of tactical combat as you can see from my favorite game systems, I'm a bit of a square grid nerd. I'm a mechanics thief, meaning I love chopping and screwing different game ideas onto whatever I'm playing at the moment. Things like clocks from FITD, to the dungeon crawl mechanic from Darkest Dungeon. If I can get my grubby little hands on it, I'll take it. I enjoy giving my players visuals to look at, I'm a visual person and I love to give everyone at the table something to look at so that we can all exist within the same shared mind space. I'd say 60% of my prep time goes into getting the visuals just right. Something that Foundry and OMM have made increasingly easy on me. I tend to let the dice tell the story as best they can but, rng isn't always the best storyteller. Neither I nor the dice are infallible, so I will often prompt the player to give me a better outcome, we all have a story to tell, so why not help me tell the one you want! I'm capable of doing multiple genres, themes, and tones. From serious, gritty, 40k-esque dark fantasy, to pastoral lush, fantasy adventure, like Adventure Time.
