About me
Hello! I've been playing various tabletop roleplaying games for twenty years, and running them for fifteen, starting with aDnD, but since then I've followed Dungeons and dragons through all of its editions, and loved the setting through its twists and turns, even when they started just mashing up their universe with every i.p. they own. It is still cool, and I love it. I also play and run many other similarly structured games, and even games that are so simple that you really just need to bring your ideas and a single page to run a solid game, with the same stories, places, people, things that make any world feel alive. Regardless of the platform, player agency is what I strive for. I'm here to help you tell the story of your characters in the context of whatever world they are in. We'll explore their life from a convenient starting point, using dice to represent the random chance that affects our lives. How well things go, not whether or not a fully trained and equipped paladin from the fifth realm can smack a goblin off his arm. I'm comfortable working in most settings, I will gladly research a system and learn a module or something to get us playing as I get accustomed to the ruleset, on my time. I've got access to all the dnd content to date, between my table players and my own collection, and I'm not opposed to throwing down for PDFs if I don't have your system. However, I do encourage you to also consider me if you like these games but dislike the math and heavy statistics and would prefer a primarily 'tag' and description-based gaming system with some randomization thrown in by dice use as you try to do stuff and work the story out.
GM Style
I just love making stories. I find that most people, with the inclination to do so, have some interesting character ideas inside them, and given room to work will write better stuff than I read in bookstores. I can do voices; I'm even considering getting a virtual avatar rolling so I could affect a dm persona or characters maybe. I do have children and play with them, but I'm an adult and usually play with adults. If I can describe it so you can hear it without hearing me be a somewhat stereotypical Scottish highlander dwarf or screeching crone for the fiftieth time, I usually go for that. I don't mind the 'hard-numbers' games despite what my previous blurb may imply, either. Like GURPS! What a system! All math and you can break it in 1000 ways before leaving the gate, it's wonderful in its technical destruction. But at the end of the day, If we describe a character you want to play, and a setting you want to play that character in, we're already there. I can populate the world, we'll roll some dice, and your character will grow and progress over time. Bringing friends is always a good choice.
