About me

I'm a Game Master who very much fell into TTRPGs by accident. I was working as news writer/columnist at The Escapist and the website decided to create a dedicated channel for tabletop RPG content. I knew next to nothing about TTRPGs, but I was always looking for new ways to be useful and volunteered to help with coverage. I found the subject enthralling and soon made my way to a local Pathfinder game. It wasn't long before I wound up in the Game Master's chair myself, and I've never looked back since. I have run a variety of different campaigns for players of all ages and sorts. From packs of six-year-olds at the local library to middle-aged adventurers fending off interdimensional villains, I'm comfortable with all sorts of games with all sorts of people. I love the experience of group storytelling, the way it builds communities, and brings people together. I also love writing! I have worked as writer -in some fashion- for most of my professional life. This includes writing for publications like with GamePro, GamesRadar, IGN and The Escapist. I also worked as a narrative designer for the text-based MMORPG Tau Station and work on the copywriting team at a marketing firm now. I recently served as the primary contributor to Bitmap Book's N64: a visual compendium. I have also written and published a variety of adventure modules, fiction pieces, and poetry. While I love sitting at a table with pencil, paper, dice, and a group of good friends, I also love the unique experience of role-playing through text. Play-by-post games have their own set of challenges, but they also provide a foundation for more thoughtful and methodical storytelling. I also appreciate the opportunities they offer for time-pressed players to enjoy gaming at a more manageable pace. I look forward to running games with a variety of different formats and players! My games are safe for LGTBQ+ players, players with neurodiversity, and players of color. If you're looking for a fun RPG experience run by an experienced and friendly Game Master, I would love to roll dice with you.

GM Style

My games, in general, tend to straddle the line between humorous and horror. I do try to create encounters with stakes and treat my monsters/enemies as frightening threats, but I also love a good laugh and will choose the option that makes people smile when it fits. I love to roleplay and doing voices - even if I'm not always great at them! While I do think the rules are important, I don't have every detail of the RPGs I play memorized by heart. I do sometimes prefer to interpret things my own way and make judgments based on what feels right in the moment. I'm a Game Master that's very conscious of the clock and will work to keep things moving, while still allowing for some side tangents. I have an expectation that players will have some idea of how their characters work. I absolutely anticipate that you will sometimes need to pause to reference things, check the book, etc., but that shouldn't be every turn. I do, of course, expect that beginning/first-time players will need more support than veteran gamers. If I'm your first ever Game Master, I'll help you and make sure you have fun! I enforce a respectful game. I will make my house rules known well in advance of a game actually starting and will not hesitate to speak up if I feel someone is crossing a line - either with me or their fellow players.
