About Start
Hello there ! I've been Dming a few DnD campaigns on foundry for friends and such, but I'm now looking for more players! I usually DM DnD5e, and I have mastered campaigns both in my homebrew universe (Paris 2024 - Modern Fantasy, quite inspired by Unsleeping City and Dresden Files) and in the Drakkenheim setting. My DM style is RP heavy and I try to ensure your character concepts can come to life in interesting ways that satisfy everyone at the table. Don't hesitate to hit me up for more information ! Start

I started running games because...
I was frustrated with other DMs. The good ones in RP lacked system mastery, and the ones that knew the system very well had very boring stories. I try to bring both, with the player's interest in mind at all times.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I train fighting sports, I love (and played in) musicals, I'm the lead singer of my heavy rock band, and I have a fairly decent consulting job. Variety's the spice of life.
How Start runs games
To me, TTRPGs are about telling, together, a story we love. Rules are here to adjudicate what happens, but they're not why we play the game. As such, I try to create situations and stories giving deep freedom for my players to realize their characters, all the while interesting situations and factions and all form naturally. I master the DND 5e (and 5.5e) from head to toe and I'm aware of the meta, optimization techniques and so on. So I'm able to reign in unhinged players. What i'm looking for is a group that wants to play together and where everybody has a place to shine.

I deal with rules issues by...
Taking a decision now and then thinking about it once the situation's cold. If it turns out I misjudged and one player was negatively impacted, I'll compensate. i'll keep the fairness between all players in mind.
I prep by
Making sure the setting, the people and their ambitions are in place. And then i let the dogs out (sorry for the expression) and observe how the world would naturally react.
When it comes to voices
I have a few, but I use them sparsely. I'm not a voice actor, so I'll only use a special voice when it's really useful to get the essence of the NPC I'm playing at that moment.
Start's ideal table
My ideal table is made from players that engage both with the setting and with the group they're forming. The kind that comes to session 0, discuss what they want to play, hear "yeah this kind of character would fit for me" from another player and immediately think of a concept that would create an interesting dynamic. I also like players taking risks.

I love it when a player
embraces what his character would do, in a thoughtful manner. You can always make a good decision for the group and then justify why you're character would make it.
I think min/maxing...
is ok when it's done for the right reason. The player optimizing their support character to round out the party will never have an issue at my table. I'm experienced enough to make sure everyone can shine.
My table is not the place for...
the usual: inattentive players, PVP (unless everyone is really enthusiastic), typical red flag behaviors. I usually play with adults and I can take a joke, but the table needs to be a place where everybody wants and feels at ease to play.
