About me

I run the podcast “Sidekicks & Sidequests”, (sidekicksandsidequests.com) which seeks to put the humans back into humanity and breathe life into your NPCs and build a world, one character at a time. I’ve been playing D&D since Halloween night 2010 with 4E. My group used to rotate Dungeon Masters, so I got some experience pretty quick, and now pretty am a “Forever DM”. I love to homebrew my own world and setting, Harmony, to put my unique Tolkien-esque spin on D&D, while also still allowing for puns, humor, and silliness to make the cut! I’ve been running 5E since 2015 and really love CR, Matt Colville, Supergeek Mike, Legalkimchi, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Dael Kingsmill, Ginny Di, and so many other great creators. Always happy to try new games and systems. I’ve got copies of the Fallout RPG, several Cloven Pines games, and Adventures in Middle Earth on my shelves waiting to be played as well!

GM Style

I love roleplay, and I'm totally down to be a ham with voices and making a fool of myself (if it means it's fun for you!) No obligations for anybody to feel like they need to do voices. I'm somewhat okay with actual, tactical combat (I did get my start in 4E), however, with the pandemic and even running One-on-One D&D via GoogleDoc, I've found I ENJOY being cinematic and deploying Theater of the Mind. But I understand people are sometimes visual, and if someone needs something depicted, I'm happy to draw a rough map or find one! I'm up for fun imagination, verisimilitude, and rule of cool. Like Matt Colville says, "If the players are having fun, then I AM having fun." I LOVE COLLABORATION. If you think of something cool, I want to build off your ideas. If you listen to my podcast (I promise, it's not a TOTAL SHAMELESS plug), you will probably get an honest idea of how I sound in a game just from that, especially the Random Encounter section of the show. Big fan of safety tools. I'm a person of faith, so I while I can keep things rate R or PG-13, I don't want to indulge the darker elements of fantasy and such. For myself or any other people. I'm 100% down to discuss things as adults and to figure out if certain themes are or aren't okay, what boundaries to set, etc. Again, the goal is to HAVE FUN! NOT be a bad time. Golden Rule: Treat my players how I would want to be treated if I were a player in their game.
