About SavagePuffin

I've been playing TTRPGs since the 90s, and I'm the forever-GM. Collaborative storytelling is one of my favorite things, and I've been doing that since Vampire:TM. I've GM'd D&D (in various editions), Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling (A lot of White Wolf stuff, honestly), Homebrew, D20 Modern - and now I'm adding Avatar and Old Gods of Appalachia into the mix. For me, what makes a good game is a compelling story. My GM style is always focused on story and character development, and some of the most poignant and memorable moments for me happen when my players take an unexpected turn and do something I would never have anticipated, and can't help but weave into the story because it's just so great. 🌈 I'm a queer polyamorous pagan leftist. I like telling inclusive stories. I am also comfortable working with neurodivergent people (I am also ND, it's the trauma! Woo!). Session 0 is about character creation yes, but it's also about communication styles, the types of stories people enjoy, and how to interact with each other so that everyone feels welcome and has a chance to shine.

How SavagePuffin runs games

📚 It's all about the storytelling. If you think something sounds fun and exciting, it's probably something I want to include. I may guide what's going on, but every story I tell is one woven between the players and me - we're all in this together. I am as invested in your success as you are, and I measure success by the depth of the story we tell together. 🎲 I am more of a roleplayer than a rollplayer. This is a choiceful style for me. Which is to say, never let a dice roll get in the way of a good story. That's not to say I'll play fast and loose with The Rules, just that I tend to provide alternatives to poor (and excellent!) dice rolls based on what makes for a more interesting story. Not all critical failures have to lead to death - sometimes death is the easiest of the options to go through. 🌎 I love an unfolding world as the players explore. Everything from small quests that build a base, to larger ones that explore and change the world around you - I like all of it. It's fun to discover what's out there, with a group of heavily-armed and possibly insane friends! ❓ If you have questions, ask them. I'm available between games to talk through things, hear your ideas for where you want your characters to go. I try to accommodate - or at least to provide opportunities for your characters to grow, depending on how you interact with what's going on and what you do. I love a good character growth arc!
