About Sarah Kaplan
Greetings, adventurers! My name is Sarah Kaplan, and I'm a Professional Dungeon Master. I mainly run Dungeons & Dragons 5e homebrew games. I have always been passionate about being in the entertainment industry, and more specifically focusing on fun and games in a way that allows me to provide memorable interactive experiences to others. Being a Professional Dungeon Master allows me to do just that. I'm confident that my players have enjoyable, shocking, and interesting experiences at my table. It's a service that I am happy and grateful to be able to provide. I have over 25 years of roleplay experience, and 2 years of experience DMing games. I have played alongside and DMed for both veteran and brand new players, and although I do currently focus on utilizing D&D's system, I have also played and ran other TTRPG systems and am very open to doing so again.

How Sarah Kaplan runs games
My specialty is running plot-heavy non-combat games that rely on roleplay and dice rolls to tell the story. I enjoy setting up the world to meet the players' needs, and using a mixture of careful planning and spur-of-the-moment improvisation to keep the game fresh and fun. My goal is to give characters problems that their players enjoy. I love acting out NPCs to make them engaging. When players ask what they can do in a scene, I've been known to say, "This is roleplaying--you can do whatever you want! But there are consequences for your actions." And that is where I find the magic of interactive play; making the NPCs react appropriately to players' actions. I find it makes for immersive games with really engrossing storytelling. The genres I feel most at home in and comfortable with are high fantasy, urban fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk, dystopian, science fiction, paranormal romance, and horror. I typically have games full of intrigue and mystery with various solutions to complex problems. Most of my games also include romance, hijinks, and danger. It's very important to me to have lots of diversity in my worlds. I also use three Safety Tools (breaks, The X-Card, and Exit the Scene) in order to ensure my players all feel comfortable and welcome. Interested in learning more?
