About me
Hi! My name is Ron Murphy. I've been playing TTRPG's and DMing campaigns since the 90's and I would love to run your game. I'm the DM for the Severed Sons DnD Rime of the Frostmaiden podcast and for the Twitch stream Rolling in the Netherdeep. If you would like a taste of my DMing style, I'm famous for cliffhangers and putting my PC's into backstory related conundrums that leave them begging to play again soon. I enjoy taking published modules and bending and shaping them so that they fit the PC's backstories and motivations, putting them at the center of the story.
GM Style
Roleplaying and character backstory play a large part of campaigns that I run. I encourage players to create rich backstories with NPCs and secrets that can be revealed during play. I use Roll20 to share player handouts and maps and use player tokens in dungeons and for combat, but I still use theater of the mind to flavor combats and rule of cool is important to me! My games can go from incredibly silly to poignant character moments, sometimes all in the same session.

Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
Inclusive
Creativity
Ron is the consummate GM, expertly interweaving an incredible story, world and setting with the motrivations and desires of the characters and players. He is a fan of the characters and constructs challenging and fun encounters while also being a master roleplayer. His NPCs are deep and engaging, bringing a real sense of life to any campaign. I have the good fortune of being in a weekly game with Ron and candidly, it's usually the higlight of my week.
Ron is an AMAZING DM. From off-game chats to discuss character development to great plot twists, unexpected curveballs and memorable NPCs, their games have everything I could wish for. Session 0 was great to set expectations and boundaries, and we've played together now for 18 sessions and I look forward to playing every time. They can accommodate if a player has to miss a few sessions, and they find great ways to do so. They're great at making situations feel high-stakes or casual depending on what is happening story-telling wise. I can never recommend Ron enough <3 (looking forward to next session btw)
