About me

I have been a gamer since '83 and a full-time GM for the past 20 years. I predominantly run horror, sci-fi, and OSR fantasy with a smattering of 5e. I am a founding member of the FB group 'Lurking Fears' and in addition to running numerous games online I can also be found running Call of Cthulhu for Chaosium at several of the 'big name' cons. Away from gaming, I am a professional software developer and father of three children. My passions other than gaming include backcountry backpacking, biological sciences, WWII history and coaching women's lacrosse.

GM Style

I am very much improvisational in my style of GMing. I like to have a grand theme for a game or campaign and allow the players to direct how the characters accomplish the stated/desired goals. Player agency and 'having fun' is paramount to the rules as-written. i.e. I will never be mistaken as a 'rules lawyer' GM. I am not afraid of characters dying in-game, but I do not aspire towards this goal nor do I contrive to do so. I lean very much towards role-playing vs roll-playing which means it is not uncommon for entire sessions to go by without a single combat roll! Keeping the game session loose and relaxed through the use of humor is essential to group cohesiveness. Life is difficult enough, right? After all, we're simply playing a game.
