About me

Hey there folks! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Ben and I look forward to collaborating and playing together with you soon! What I Offer: • A guarantee of safety, inclusivity and kindness in sessions. I use safety tools such as lines & veils, zero sessions, the x card and breaks to ensure this. • Flexible and fun-first attitude during play. Voices galore, goofs, gaffs and gassing each other up. • Customized campaigns that enmesh the story you want to tell with the broader plot. • Deep knowledge of the 5e rules and lore. • Extensive Roll20 knowhow. We're talking custom tokens, exquisite maps, dynamic lighting, useful macros, immersive APIs, I've got you covered. About Me: I have been a consumer of many things fantasy since my youth, and a voracious TTRPG enthusiast since my college days in 2012. I have spent much of the time since in the GM's seat, which I absolutely delight in. Helping others to develop and see through their stories in collaboration with myself and the other players is the peak of play. I've logged over 3000 hours in roll20 and good deal more with friends in person. When I'm not playing, I'm consuming actual play shows and podcasts like Dimension 20, NADDPoD, and Worlds Beyond Number. I also love a good fantasy novel or series. Favorites include works by Joe Abercrombie, Scott Lynch, Brent Weeks, Jim Butcher, Brandon Sanderson and Brian McClellan to name a few. My regular job is providing individual therapy as a Social Worker and there's definitely some overlap when it comes to creating safe environments and managing conflict at the table both in and out of character. I try and bring that kind and accepting attitude to my games while leaving the psychoanalyzing and complex insurance management out of it.

GM Style

I am a goofy goober at heart, greatly inspired by the likes of Brian Murphy and Brennan Lee Mulligan. I like my games to foremost be a good time, with laughter and joking around. But I don't shy away from stakes either! Threatening enemies, complex character motivations, heartwrenching moments of roleplay, it's all there for the taking.

Rolling 4 Insight has led games for me and my friends for a few years, all virtual. His facility with language is incredible, he creates worlds brimming with details and life. This is then enhanced by his whimsical improvisation and fabulous voices. R4I is a rules expert, is always patient and kind when explaining his reasoning and interpretations -- and yet he is always open to exploring adaptations and modifications to enhance gameplay. In some ways I feel utterly spoiled having played with R4I so long, as other GMs I've played with have left me bored or uninspired. Prepare for next level adventures!!!

Ben is the reason I got hooked into DnD in the first place and it's always a wonderful time! He creates amazing, immersive worlds and atmospheres for your characters to explore. Ben uses amazing soundscapes, music, visual aids, and fun voices for the NPC! I've always been allowed to be as creative as possible, and as a beginner it was great to learn the way of the dice with him! You are in for a very great experience if you play with him!

I have played games with this DM for years now, and he was my introduction to D&D as a whole. He was excellent for helping me learn how to play, and is an incredible DM in plenty of ways. Not only is he great at character work and making characters believable with both personality and voices, but I've also found myself in situations where story beats or character moments made me feel uncomfortable, and as soon as I spoke with Ben, he and I worked them out in ways that felt natural for the characters and also fixed the problems I was having and relieved my unease. Cannot recommend this DM enough, easily one of my favorites I've played with, and I have since played with quite a few since he introduced me to playing TTRPGs.

Ben is the best GM I have ever had. I've been playing tabletop games with him for at least a decade at this point, and honestly, when I play other games, I miss being at Ben's table, digital or physical. He is excellent at working with the players to tell an enriching, insightful, engaging, immersive, and unexpected story. I've never had a GM with as thorough a knowledge of Roll20 either. He's able to make everything feel so easy, from character building, to combat, both basic and complex, to plot twists, intense character moments, and everything in between. And our sessions are fun and funny on top of that! He is beginner friendly too! After many years being a camp counselor with him, I've never even seen him be so much as crabby. All around 10/10, if I could think of more ways to describe the magic that is playing with Ben, I would put them here.

As a complete beginner, Ben made the leap into DND as welcoming and accessible as possible. The time and effort he takes to create a fun, vibrant, and exciting world are shown at every session. What I appreciate the most is how character-focused he is. He makes the world feel real by appreciating and incorporating PC's personalities, histories, and core motivations. :)

I've played TTRPG games for about 10 years, and this GM has inspired me with some killer moments, great atmosphere, and just overall fun times. When you get the drama, the gags, *and* leave the table with some great ideas for your own GM'ing, and realize what else is possible in the game space, I think is truly a mark of a great Game Master.
