About me

Hello! I'm an actor / writer / improv artist who's been working as a professional GM for 3 years now. I started out running CoC 7e at a boardgame cafe in Manhattan and have since broken off to run adventures on my own in both 5e and OSE. All of my games are set in my own home-brewed setting of Foryll, with unique cultures, species, history, and lore. As an avid Tolkein fan, Foryll is meticulously constructed over these last years to be as lived-in as possible. There are over 70,000 years of history that has been forgotten or rewritten as gods came down to walk the earth and remake it in their image. Yet the truth remains buried for those who seek adventure and riches. Players will receive a free supplement for joining my table; a gazetteer of lore and several new player options, items, and spells depending on the system.

GM Style

As a trained, union stage actor, I lean heavily into role play at the table. I enjoy a wide cast of characters, detailed setting narration, and a touch of whimsy. I tend to run games that focus on exploration/discovery foremost, with roleplay following close behind. I have a deeply analytical mind and enjoy combat, but 5e has taxed my patience with extended encounters. I prefer my combat to be quick and deadly. There is almost always a way to solve problems peacefully, and if a sword is drawn, blood *will* be shed.

There was this demon lord whose name we weren’t supposed to say, but we said it a lot, and on two occasions we said it near a magic portal. The first time we survived because we also pulled a vastly powerful archdruid through and she begrudgingly helped us escape the deep underground. As we did not learn our lesson, my character promptly did it again by accident and got half the party killed. The lesson is to always have a mobility spell as a spellcaster, and to play with Carter.

I’ve done two campaigns and three characters with Carter. He’s a fantastic DM and has built out a world that feels dark, expansive and full of life. He’s fantastic with improv and always has space for a bit of silliness even when we’re being ridiculous. I’ve made some lifelong friends with this game, which we started in the depths of the pandemic, and I credit Carter for fostering an environment that lends itself to connection and communication. I feel like even after years there’s still so much to explore and learn about this world and I look forward to digging deeper! Definitely play with Carter he’s fantastic.

Carter puts so much time and thought into the lore of his world that it gives such an immersive experience. He's a fantastic storyteller/narrator, and our game feels set in a world as complex as Tolkien. The sessions are really fun, and Carter is great about encouraging player creativity
