About Benjamin

I've been playing TTRPGs for just over a decade and have been GMing them for nearly as long. I have learned a lot in that time but of course there is always room for growth and improvement. I pride myself on my adaptive approach, adjusting my style based on the system I am playing and the group I am with. I dabble in a bit of whatever I can get my hands on but I particularly enjoy games in sci-fi and horror settings and with an emphasis on exploration/investigation and tactical combat.

How Benjamin runs games

I generally strive for a balance between combat, roleplay, and exploration, shifting my focus depending on what system is being played and the group that is playing. I enjoy presenting my players with challenges and rewarding creative means of overcoming them.

Featured Prompts

Rules are...

... a useful framework for setting expectations and creating consistency. While they can not possibly be all-encompassing understanding the rules and the mechanics of a system can better help players and GMs navigate the grey areas and determine fair outcomes to uncertain situations.

Benjamin's ideal table

I love it when my players engage with the settings and the systems I run. Being proactive, coming to the table prepared, asking questions about their situation and surroundings, experimenting with mechanics, and taking risks both narratively and strategically are all behaviours I love to see and reward.

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

Describes their character's actions narratively, rather than mechanically. For example: "I rush forward and thrust my rapier towards them" versus "I move 30 feet and attack"

My table is not the place for...

Crude humour, joke characters, or bigotry.
