About Omar, the Cartesian Roach
Your choices should matter. The world should remember them. I'm Omar, The Cartesian Roach—a professional Game Master and TV screenwriter specializing in cinematic, challenging campaigns where players have the freedom to change the story. I've run 900+ professional sessions on StartPlaying, earning a 5-star rating across 50 reviews. My players consistently highlight my storytelling, creativity, challenging encounters, and visual production. I build living worlds rather than predetermined stories. Characters remember you. Enemies learn from you. Political decisions reshape cities. Failure creates new problems. In some campaigns, several groups even share the same world, allowing one party's actions to become another's history. I've loved D&D since I was nine. Decades later, what fascinates me isn't telling players my story. It's discovering what happens when I give them a world and let them make it theirs.

People are always surprised when I tell them
how far I'll go for a game night. Custom miniatures, 3D environments, maps, music, artwork, deep lore—I love making imaginary worlds feel tangible. If something matters in the story, there's a good chance I've built, painted, mapped, or researched it.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Challenging · Creative · Immersive
When I'm not running games I'm...
I'm a single Father, so parenting is one of my main activities. I have two other jobs (But GMing is my main one). 1.- I do social work for a "Men Against Violence" organisation. 2.- I also work as a scriptwriter for a comedy TV show in México.
How Omar, the Cartesian Roach runs games
I run games where victory is earned, failure is possible, and your choices can permanently change the story. I prepare characters, conflicts, situations, and consequences—not predetermined solutions. Negotiate with the enemy I expected you to fight. Betray the person I thought you'd protect. Invent something I never considered. I'll follow you there. Your character's ambitions, relationships, mistakes, and victories become part of the campaign. I pay attention to what excites each player and create opportunities for everyone to matter. My encounters can be dangerous—sometimes terrifying—but difficulty is never about the GM defeating the players. I want you thinking, improvising, taking risks, and occasionally wondering how you're going to survive. Failure changes the story. It doesn't end it. Above all, I want the fiction to be dangerous—not the table. Challenge should come from the adventure, not from arguing with the DM. Come ready to make decisions. I'll make sure the world answers.

Putting your character in difficult situations where choices matter, victories feel earned, and failure is always possible. Expect challenging encounters, deep roleplay, dangerous worlds, and cinematic battles brought to life with miniatures and detailed maps.
Omar, the Cartesian Roach's ideal table
My ideal table is made of curious, engaged players who care about the story—and about each other's characters. You don't need years of experience or perfect knowledge of the rules. New players are welcome. What matters is that you're willing to participate, make decisions, and share the spotlight. You'll fit especially well if you enjoy deep roleplay, tactical challenges, complicated characters, dark humor, difficult choices, and stories with consequences. My tables are collaborative rather than competitive. There is room for disagreement between characters, romance, ambition, betrayal, and morally complicated decisions without disrespect between players. The vibe is immersive but relaxed. We take the story seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. Expect tense battles and dramatic scenes alongside ridiculous plans, unexpected friendships, and plenty of laughter. Bring a character you care about. The world will take care of the consequences.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into tactical combat, deep roleplay, difficult choices, and living worlds, you're going to love my table because I blend them together. Expect dangerous battles, political intrigue, complicated relationships, cinematic moments, terrible ideas—and plans that somehow work.
I love it when a player
surprises me. Make a plan I never anticipated, care about an NPC I thought was insignificant, or take a terrible risk for something your character believes in. I don't want you to discover my story—I want us to discover what your choices do to the world.
I think min/maxing...
is awesome when the character behind the numbers is as interesting as the build. Give me the terrifying combo and a story that makes sense. I won't nerf you—I'll challenge you. If you build a monster, don't be surprised when the world sends monsters worthy of fighting you.
