About me

Want a GM who can run pretty much any genre? Someone who will give you a unique game experience with a fresh and mysterious setting for you to explore? Than I’m the guy for you.

GM Style

I specialize in running from behind the screen. I’ll set the scene, then I’ll let the players do as they desire and act as a referee and judge. I do not run rules as written, choosing to follow the old AD&D saying of, “The rules are guidelines, not things to be adhered to.” This does not mean that I don’t use rules, I do. But I bend them when necessary for gameplay, fun, flow, or if it simply would make no sense for the RAW to operate in certain circumstances. I do not allow politics at my game table or in game chats. I prefer that players do not discuss politics privately either during the course of a campaign. Lastly, I require my players to track their inventory: Food, ammunition, funds, etc., It may not seem important, but it is crucial. If you run out of arrows during combat, then you are out of luck. If you use a component pouch, then you will need to make sure you have noted down what is in it and making sure to purchase necessary items for your spells, whether consumed or otherwise, because that will need to tracked just as much as any other piece of equipment. For the packs in 5E, I highly recommend noting the contents of the pack rather than the pack itself so that you needn’t reference the books as often—and you’ll know what you have left in your pack. Oh, on the note of equipment tracking, I usually run lower currency settings. Meaning that copper and silver are more used than gold and that starting background gold is usually replaced with silver. Item prices are also subject to these changes for economic reasons. This also means spells that cost multiple hundreds of gold are often switched to silver as well. TABLE OF RULES (ALL GAMES) 1) If a question regarding the rules comes up and the DM states a ruling, do not argue with it. 2) Anything you say in your character’s voice (if you use one) is what they say unless you preface that it is not actually being said. 3) If you do not use a character voice (which is not a problem) please state if your character is speaking to prevent confusion. 4) No politics at the table. 5) No sexual content or scenes are allowed. You can have a character who is risqué, but I do not do sex scenes or the like in my games (fade to black or described). 6) For Charisma skill checks, ask to make the roll and declare what you are attempting to do, then, once the result is generated, declare what you attempted to say. This simply prevents backtracking dialogue or excellent and persuasive dialogue from being wasted. 7) Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Insight, Investigation, Perception, Deception skills checks and Death saving throws will be rolled by the DM. THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL LISTINGS.

Matthew is the person who introduced me to DND and taught me everything I know about it. He is a terrific storyteller and sets up the world very well. He is also good at home brewing to make what you want to work while following the rules. Most of all, he is very friendly and accommodating, making everyone there feel included.

He’s been playing (and DM’ing) since he was a very small kid and it shows. He not only knows the world and the monsters and the rules inside and out, he knows what makes playing fun and challenging and interesting. His players stay the whole campaign and come back for the next one.

Great DM overall! Sometimes challenges are a little higher level than would be expected but so it means you gotta run and come back to it.
