About Lucas G | Ursus Arktos
Hey guys! I'm Lucas! I started playing D&D in the mid '80s, my older cousins introduced it to me. It didn't take long for me to dive into the role of Game Master - a hobby I did proudly all the way through colllege. I took a break from D&D after college when I started a family and jumped head first into "Corporate America" but rekindled my love for the game about three years ago after sustaining an injury and being forced into an early "retirement" I jumped back into the role of Game Master a year ago and although I've tried various other tabletop RPGs, I always find my way back to D&D. Outside of gaming, I'm a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and love even attending local team games with friends and family. I was once a +4 handicap golfer but had to give up the sport after my work injury. Fun fact: My all-time favorite D&D character is a Kender Thief named "Jarl" which just so happens to have been the first character I ever played.

I’m usually hanging out with my kids or my girlfriend. Unfortunately, I suffer from severe chronic pain and migraines is I am a bit limited in my hobbies. Before my injuries I was an incredible golfer with a +4 handicap. However, my health has limited my ability to continue my love for golf.

Prep? Why prep when my players just hang a left as soon as I say go! I usually prep major battles or highlighted dialogue with the BBEG, however everything else is just a reaction to what the players bring to the story. I am just a facilitator of the world, while the players tell the tale.
Rules are...
The means to an end. The rules inform the game and the randomness of the world, however the roleplay is the real intrigue. Rules just give us a box to play in while the dialogue between players gives the story life!

My ideal table is full of people who will participate with each other and myself unhinged from the shackles of normality. We exist in a world of my creation where anything goes and I expect my players to come to the table with ideas fresh from their minds. We don’t regurgitate modules, we explore the boundless nature of our imaginations. The table should respect and treat each other with courtesy and camaraderie. We are here to enjoy each others company and the creativity they can all add to the combined tale we spin.
