About me

Hi! I'm Sarah (AKA Kyd the Chronicler) and I've been running, playing, and designing TTRPG content since 2014. My current and longest running project is Stories of Chance (SoC), a d20 centric system that focuses on flexible character builds and communal story telling. I love tailoring my games to my players' interests and preferences, so expect a lot of questions about what you want to see in a game. I often run lore and RP heavy campaigns that span 8-12 sessions set in my homebrew world but am interseted in exploring other systems and running more combat and exploration heavy encounters. Hope to see you in a game soon!

GM Style

My comfort zone for GMing is highly immersive and lore driven style. In game I usually utilize background music and ambience tracks and setting and NPC images and I try to send my players a complete list of lore that their character would need to succeed in world. I live for players who get deeply invested in the story and their character and I always strive to tell a deeply compelling story. For me, Rule of Cool usually trumps Rules as Written (especially if I am running homebrew) and I encourage my players to be creative with their shenanigans. While I find this style of GMing most comfortable, I am always more than happy to meet players at their skill and comfort level. An Average Campaign My campaigns start with a session 0, during which I guide players through character creation and setting lore, establish expectations for behavior in and out of game, and field any questions that arise. During the week between session 0 and the first game, I send out world and character lore dossiers, character models, and the agreed upon table expectations and rules. In session 1, I run short intros for each player character then spend the rest of the campaign on the previously agreed upon plot. I prefer to build plot to follow players interest and normally only prep a few days before a session to allow for maximum input from the players. If a player wants to see something happen in game, they need only ask and I'll try to make it happen. Basics and Standards I expect players to show up on time and be respectful to myself and their fellow players. I allow a 30 minute grace period between when players arrive til game starts to allow for pregame socialization, Q&A, and getting into character. If half or more of the party is unable to make the game, I usually run an impromptu battle royal or side story for the players that are available which may result present player characters gaining in extra levelups or loot. If this happens for more than 3 games in a row I ask the table as a group to reassess scheduling conflicts. If a player is more than an hour late, I ask they do not participate in game that week and if a player misses more than 4 games in a row I ask that we discuss as a group if any scheduling changes need to be made. Scheduling conflicts will be resolved in favor of having the fullest party possible. Games usually last 3-4 hours, max 6, and I run either single games or campaigns that run 3-4 or 8-12 sessions.
