About me

Hi, I'm Kodi! I've been playing TTRPGs since 2014, and I've GMed several games during my time. Though I started with Pathfinder and D&D, I've learned I prefer rules-light systems much more, especially for GMing, and I particularly love the Kids on Bikes system due to its simplicity and versatility. I use safety measures like Lines, Veils, and Safe Words in all my games, and I also utilize a Same Page Checklist to ensure everyone has the same expectations going into the game. I may also use Stars and Wishes (if I remember) to get feedback about what people enjoyed and what they're looking forward to, especially if I'm running a longer-form game! I'm open to both new and experienced players of all sorts (I particularly love teaching people about TTRPG systems other than D&D!), but I will not tolerate hate or bigotry of any kind towards myself or the other players at my table. If you're going to be racist, sexist, queerphobic, or otherwise close-minded and rude, go somewhere else. Playing characters with these traits isn't off the table, especially in settings or stories examining such topics, but it can only be done with the explicit and informed consent of everyone else in the game. Just... don't be a jerk, okay? It's really not that hard. If you think I'm the right GM for you, sign up for a game, and we can get cracking! I hope to see you at my table :)

GM Style

My GM style, at least for traditional TTRPGs like D&D, is roughly 40% roleplay, 40% exploration, and 20% combat. I'm also a weird combination of a planner and pantser, to steal writing terms. For longer games, I'll build a general setting, build characters with the players, and then flesh out the world using their backstories and whip up an adventure using their projected character arcs and a story that interests me. For shorter games like one-shots and such, I'll probably have a pre-constructed story/mystery and setting that the characters will get thrown into for one reason or another. I am, however, branching out into more improv-heavy games, and I'm slowly building my skills and enjoying them quite a lot!
