About JustKyle

Been playing TTRPG's for over 13 years, 9 of those GM'ing and I've completed my fourth year doing full time GM work with StartPlaying! A lover of creating a enjoyable plot, and equally the random chaos that players can throw at me at a moments notice. I'm Scottish, so a heads up for a slight accent, all are welcome at the table, new or old, veteran or greenhorn, the dice don't care as long as they are rolled. I currently am also writing content for Daylight Publications and have done event work with Gehenna Gaming at PAX Unplugged 2024, PAX East 2025, UK Games Expo 2025 and GenCon 2025 For my Convention review feedback please check this spreadsheet or the review from Erik “Sleiphner” below. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16TFqdsg_tK5d3tpRvFtQZCFwzBKUzoae_wTWGE5j-4M/edit?gid=0#gid=0 I will be at TableTop Scotland 2025 and PAX Unplugged 2025.

People are always surprised when I tell them

that I got into working full time in this career as part of a £5 bet with a friend whilst running a campaign for them.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Creative, considerate and welcoming

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing card games like Magic the Gathering. Rakdos is the vibe. Demons are the Tribe. I adore listening to music and spend a lot of time going to gigs or seeking out new music from most genres. I even use them as inspiration for one shots or components of campaigns!

How JustKyle runs games

The best way to describe my style would be with an initial statement, and then some context. I would describe my style as captivating yet chaotic. What I mean by this is, whilst I will have a campaign planned out, and set objectives that the party would like to achieve or need to do to help out NPC's, I am not one for the railroad. If you stop in a forest, and want to go hunting, I'll make it work. If you want to learn how to cook, I'll make it work. You want to ignore the brooding figure in the bar, and instead choose to talk to the halfling playing dice with some humans, the first question will be "how much do you want to bet with them?" I love watching, and listening to players becoming enamored and interested in the world around them, and I will never deny someone's curiosity. I like to add silly voices now and then, returning characters as NPCs in other campaigns with player permission and even the odd reference now and then. Narrative focus is very much my forte.

JustKyle's ideal table

Players that enjoy storytelling, having a seat to feel safe and explore ideas within a campaign and get lost in lore fit very well here. For the min-maxers there is a place as well with scaling combat as campaigns go on. Creativity and curiousity are highly desired traits for me and will always be encouraged. Whether is a long term player trying some out of the box thinking or a new player coming up with a wild idea, both will be nutured and respected. I will always tell my tables "There isn't such a thing as a stupid question. Only a possibly stupid consequence to not asking the question beforehad"

I am for a vibe that's...

A weekly session where you can leave the world behind and immerse yourself in a new one, full of joy, sadness, tension and achievement. One session can be a 3 hour section within a town or wilderness, the next could be a dungeon crawl. All are enjoyable.

I love it when a player

get's to try a crazy idea that either they or as a collective group have come up with, success or failure I'll give it my all to deliver it in a enjoyable format.
