About me

Greetings! I'm Justinian, or Justin, a history and mythology nerd and “forever GM”. I've been fascinated by stories and games since childhood, and I’ve been running Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition campaigns for over six years! I run revised Wizards of the Coast modules (including Candlekeep Mysteries, Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, and Radiant Citadel) as well as custom Greek mythology and Forgotten Realms adventures. All my games are LGBTQ+ and beginner friendly! My greatest joy as a GM is seeing players implement creative ideas and turn them into victories. I've seen a player successfully cast suggestion to magically persuade a guardian to defend against other intruders in a tomb, a druid in cat form setting docks aflame to distract foes away from his not-so-stealthy friends, and a player infiltrate an enemy lair by pretending to be a safety inspector. I look forward to many more moments like these!

GM style

As a member of multiple minority groups, creating a safe gaming environment is of the utmost importance to me. I interview players to determine content they object to, and I use a code of conduct and content warnings. I do not tolerate bigotry in any of my games. I am a Rule of Cool GM who will entertain creative solutions as long as they do not strain credulity too much. I include multiple opportunities for meaningful player choices which impact subsequent adventures in each campaign. My NPCs are three-dimensional, with different speaking and thinking patterns, motivations, and secrets. I carefully pace each session to ensure each session is engaging, and aim to balance the three pillars (exploration, roleplaying, combat) in each of my games. Players have described combat in my games as challenging; you have been warned!
