About me

Hi, I'm June! When I first started playing rpgs, I noticed pretty quickly that while my friends were busy building characters, all I wanted to do was start putting their characters into situations. D&D is where I have the most experience, and most of the games I've run have taken place in the Forgotten Realms, with a dash of Dragonlance on the side. My favorite place in Faerûn is probably Waterdeep, with Neverwinter a close second- but the little town of Phandelver will probably always have a special place in my heart. I'm on Mountain time, so I'm very used to making campaigns work in multiple time zones, especially Eastern or Pacific. In the past couple years, I've gotten interested in experimenting with other systems than D&D. I'm still working on mastering Avatar and Vaesen, and I have my eye on learning Star Trek Adventures too!

GM Style

I like to keep my games adaptable so I can really let my players' strengths and preferences shine, whether that means they'd like to stretch their characters' combat abilities, or to roleplay with every NPC in town. I aim for a game session with a variety of each play style, from fighting to world exploration. This means plenty of scene changes from icon covered battle maps, to territorial maps with landmarks and hidden places players can mark and drawn on, to theater of the mind. I definitely encourage roleplay, but it isn't required. My goal is to help players who prefer a more descriptive/narrative style with their characters to blend easily with players who like to roleplay fully in character throughout a session. I'm used to bringing together very different personalities at my tables, and I like to make sure that the people who love the spotlight feel empowered to help build up the rest of their team too, and that more shy people feel safe to come out of their shells. Personally, I can't resist giving my NPCs terrible accents and voices most of the time. I have fun helping my players as much as they want with character building so they can get invested in the story of a campaign, whether short or long. The door should always be open for players to impact the lore of the world around them. The opposite side of that coin is that for more of a feeling of immersion, actions should have consequences :) Rule of Cool wins every time- the rules are there to help us have more fun and pull off more tricks!
