About me

TLDR: I am a professional Dungeon Master under Fight The Exposition! We host D&D events in the Greater Boston area and are making our StartPlaying debut! -- Hello! My name's Josh and I am very excited to GM at StartPlaying! I think it's great that there's a platform to be able to play whatever it is you want to play. I've been in that position of wanting to jump into a campaign but not having anyone to play with or not knowing where I could get started. If you were in that situation and just found out about me and StartPlaying I'd love to share that experience with you! I have been GM'ing for 8 years and am the owner of Fight The Exposition. We host Dungeons and Dragons events in Boston, MA and through it I've met a lot of great people who share the same passion as me. Storytelling and having a silly, fun time! My campaigns and one shots are silly, grounded, and aim to subvert expectations, but the most important thing I'd have to say is that I try my best to let you, the player, have the experience of being the hero of the adventure. GM Style

The world is full of life and adventure, will you be the next hero that walks these lands? Joining my campaign means that you, the player, are the hero of the story. Let’s share and tell this story together! My GM style is mostly roleplay focused with a nice peppering of combat and puzzle encounters. The world is real and fleshed out, you can expect it to be silly and absurd as well as having the tone suddenly shift to dark and serious. NPCs, monsters, and villains are very much living beings in my world and should not be underestimated! Combat is not so straightforward in my sessions. Not everyone is simply using their turn to attack and trying to dish out the most damage. You may find that many of them have tricks up their sleeves to even the playing field. I encourage creativity, flair, and new ideas. Whether you’re a new player or an experienced one, I’d love for all of us to be able to play and grow together!
