About Jeremy

Hey, I'm Jeremy! I love the joyful chaos of D&D. After earning my MA in Games-Based Learning I've run over 650 hours of D&D games over Discord, at coffee shops, comic shops, parks, beaches, bars, and birthdays! I've spoken on ComicCon's GeekEd panel about nerd identity in higher ed, hosted workshops at Social Fiction Conference, and firmly believe in games' ability to create safe spaces for social inclusion. I combine the social camaraderie of collaborative storytelling with fantastical visual representation to create worlds real and diverse. It's a blast creating experiences cultivating confidence, social skills, and belonging in an otherwise imaginary world 🌎 My first experience with D&D was growing a beard made of feathers as a monk fighting a giant under a circus tent. Since then I've had players laugh while negotiating with yetis, hunker down with heads bowed cracking ancient ciphers, and unleash heartfelt tears at reconnecting with long-lost siblings. Here are a few quotes from past games: "How much damage does a rhino falling 60 feet onto someone's head do?" "How could this possibly be any worse than the disintegration trap?" "I lick the obelisk." D&D creates playfully-mediated spaces of belonging. In a world constantly bombarded with limitations, my games live by the mantra "you may certainly try." When I'm not writing a D&D adventure or creating another dynamic battle map, I'm planning the next Murder Mystery Party 🎭 Whether a one-shot or longer campaign, our lives need more dragons 🐉 come join! How Jeremy runs games

🌎 I create rich open-world narratives emphasizing character-driven stories. Games focus on exploration and social interaction with some combat. Players are encouraged and given space to roleplay and interact with the world. 📜 Games are geared towards new & intermediate players! We start with introductions, review house rules, behavior guidelines, and safety tools. Session 0 is important for creating characters, asking questions, learning how to play, and setting game expectations. You don't need to min/max power gamer to be successful! Multiple short breaks are built-in to the session for restroom and hydration. I encourage players to interrupt me with questions! 😎 We follow the Rule of Cool, bending certain rules if it makes the players look cool. 💻 Games are played on Discord, Google Hangouts, or Zoom, and use Tableplop for the battlemap. 🧝"Can I be a..." Almost always, yes! NPCs are as diverse as players, identifying across the gender and ability spectrum, often with ridiculous voices. Players are encouraged to interact with each other to bring characters' personalities to life. Character creation is pretty fluid, with most cosmetic or customization options accepted. ♿️ I try to make games accessible by offering alternative character sheets, captioning services, battlemap color-contrast, and in-game safety tools. If there's a tool you need that would be helpful to participate let me know, I'll work with you! 🏳️‍🌈 Consent matters! We play with X-card, debrief, and feedback safety mechanisms during the game. Games are generally PG-13 unlesss otherwise agreed upon. Players are encouraged to display their characters' pronouns during play. Players with phobias or off-topic preferences (spiders, funerals, alcohol, etc.) may request different encounters. 🚫 No place for racism, sexism, abilism, or harrassing behavior 📚 New to D&D?
