About James
Hey all, I've got about 30ish years of gamemastering experience. I'd love to say that throughout that time I've honed my technique to a razor's edge, but in truth I love to experiment with new ways of running games, and am in constant pursuit of interesting new tricks to make my games more engaging to the players. While I've run and played just about every type of setting over the last three decades, my favorite has always been fantasy settings, and I tend to lean heavily towards those, with a little bit of dabbling in more modern games with fantasy elements included. In addition to my experience as a gamemaster, I've also researched game design (part of that experimental bit I mentioned earlier) and even self published an rpg of my own. If you're interested in games with a few unusual, but well thought out elements intermingled into the standard rules and settings I might just be the GM for you.

How James runs games
It's hard to qualify my style because I'm often experimenting with new things. The one constant though is that I tend to prefer games where resources are harder to come by, and I will always highlight play where players have to make difficult decisions about how they want to use what they have. This can be something that is embedded into either the game system, such as a game of DnD where long resting is more difficult than usual, or it can be something innate to the setting, such as playing in a desert world where water is scarce. Beyond that aspect, I like to make sure that there are always things going on in the background of my worlds for players to actively discover, or ignore at their whim. It's a particular way I use to give my players more agency over the story. Things they're interested in, they'll investigate. Things they aren't interested in will play out without them.
