I've been in the RPG scene for 22 years. I love how we can create a very unique story, together, that nobody can truly understand as well as we at the table who've made it. My goal is to share this experience with as many people as possible.
I love the rule of cool, if you come up with a truly good idea. I generally encourage roleplaying over rule-reading and getting bogged down in your character sheet. That's one of the reasons I love rules-light systems more. I'm using different voices and audio effects, amongst other props that increase emergence in the game. I tend to lean towards the gloomy and grimdark settings but that never held me back from GMing in a high fantasy opera story either ;)
