Hi friends! I'm an enthusiastic DM with 5+ years experience who has deep love for all three pillars of TTRPGs. I love frenetic combats, compelling narratives, memorable characters, and vibrant worlds with plenty of lore to uncover. I love playing around with genre, often instilling my games with comedy and horror in equal parts, but I also enjoy adding elements of noir, sci fi, pulp, and political intrigue. I'm building out a home-brew world called Bat Kol, and see this as an opportunity to explore various regions and aspects of the world. There are no "gods" in Bat Kol, only an inscrutable collective divine entity known as The Host, whose emanations are variously expressed and interpreted throughout the material plane. We'll probably get along if you like any or all of the following media: Miyazaki, Final Fantasy 6, Legend of Zelda, Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre, Alien + other sci fi horror, Moby-Dick, Fullmetal Alchemist, China Mieville's account of the Russian Revolution, Adventure Time, Berserk, any fantasy that has fun with cuisine, The Last Airbender, etc etc. I'm a Jewish American who's politically left, and this does influence how I play the game in small ways. I'm curious about how politics affect people's material lives, and am interested in fantasy where white European culture isn't the assumed norm. I'm into intersectional feminism and anti-racism, and if these things bum you out, please find a different GM!
As I said above, I love frenetic combats, compelling narratives, memorable characters, and vibrant worlds with plenty of lore to uncover. I love playing around with genre, often instilling my games with comedy and horror in equal parts, but I also enjoy adding elements of noir, sci fi, pulp, and political intrigue. My combat style is definitely influenced by strategy and action-oriented video games, while my storytelling is probably a product of my background in studying English literature and creative writing. Are you interested in a particular subgenre? Let me know! I really enjoy tailoring a gaming experience to the desires of the players. I'm a big fan of a session 0, as well as occasional check-ins to makes sure folks are enjoying their experience. I love teaching new players, and I try to be pretty accommodating and open-minded! I want things to feel fair, but don't love metagaming or heavy rules lawyering. I welcome all levels and types of role playing, and love collaboration above all else, even if your characters don't see eye to eye. No dice rolling to change a party member's mind! If you want to convince someone, do it through role play :)
