About FanFic TTRPG

Hello! You may call me "Rulu," I'm a published writer and former journalist with radio experience. I've played D&D for a few years, and have been DMing for about a year. While I do love D&D modules, my real passion is writing and designing homebrew campaigns using the D&D 5e engine. These Homebrews are based on popular video games and fandoms from 1980-2010. For example, EverQuest, Mass Effect, and Supernatural. My current project is compiling my EverQuest, fanfiction, homebrew creations into something more official, but free to other DMs and players.

How FanFic TTRPG runs games

I see myself as a game facilitator. You're not playing against me, you are playing against the world, and I'm the referee. More importantly, I see D&D as less of a game, and more of a cooperative storytelling adventure. 30% Exploration, 30% Combat, 40% Roleplay is my desired balance. I like a good mix of serious and humor, and you can definitely expect to have a ridiculous moment or two to help balance out the tension. I like being organized, helpful, fair, and avoid the word "No." I always use the X-Card (and Pause) in all of my games. I want to foster an environment that is BIPOC, LGBTQ+, ESL, and new player friendly. I want to make sure the players know what to expect from me, and what I expect from them, before they apply/signup. Essentially, I want my players (and myself) to be comfortable enough to have fun.
