About Ryan
Hello there all! My name is Ryan and I've been a DM for 3 years now and would like to step out of my comfort zone of simply DMing for family and friends and hopefully make memories with new people! I have been working on my own homebrew world for almost 3 years now and am now ready to start running games in it. It includes new subclasses, races, sub races, lineages, magic items, and much more that has been created for your enjoyment as you set forth into the wonderous and dangerous realm of Tharkith. This realm is much more than just a sandbox, it's your own playground! I want to see the world evolve alongside the players decisions in it and possibly have events ripple into other campaigns and effect those parties. I aim for a living world where the players have as much agency as they wish for and if their agency should bring ruin to the realm, then so be it. My players having fun, being invested, and immersed, is my biggest goal as a DM.

How Ryan runs games
As a DM I play by the “Rule of Cool” and RAI, favoring using the rules of the game and twisting them when players have ideas that call for improvised rolls or rulings. I enjoy being prepared a few sessions ahead of where the players are but I am not afraid to go off script and improvise an adventure; I will re-work future sessions around what the players do on their adventure. I enjoy doing my character voices and making creature noises, but do not feel pressured to do a voice or accent just because I or other players are. Talking in your own voice is perfectly fine so long as you are in character. I enjoy playing my characters properly as well, so I will not pull punches and will try my hardest to assist or fight the PC’s to my best best judgment and capacity. I would prefer and love it if players could stay in character as much as possible, jokes are fine and small convos are fine but no de-railing with full-blown conversation in the middle of session. I am able to run a combat every session but I prefer to have only story driven and travel based combat in my campaign. Homebrew content will be discussed and never outright denied unless it is just plain ridiculous or game breaking. I try to be a very fair and neutral DM and try to give every player their time in the spotlight, I'm not perfect at it and can only promise to try my best. The main trait I appreciate from my party is communication, please never feel as if you are unable to talk to me about issues or concerns about the game, your character, or other players. I will do my best to handle any issues quickly.
