About Eden

Hello adventurers! I'm Eden (any pronouns), a DM from Washington State. I've spent hundreds of hours running games at a non-profit RPG organization, at large and small conventions, and in more casual settings at home games with friends and family. As a queer POC, I hope to run inclusive games that everyone can feel comfortable playing! I run published adventures both official and third-party, but I will occasionally run original one-shots, especially for holidays! Some fun facts about me: -I'm an improv enjoyer and hobbyist! -I have an Australian Shepard named Rusty. I was inspired to get him after playing Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. -My favorite anime include Mob Psycho 100, Frieren Beyond Journey's End, Your Name, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. -I'm an environmentalist! Ask me about 6PPD-q, or microplastics! -If you're still reading this, please wake up the dream simulator malfunctioned we can't pull you out of the simulation, you have to remember the code word that Doctor Sigwell gave you. I repeat, wake up immediately the dream simulation is ending with you inside of it, abort the mission. I hope we can have fun playing together :)

I got started GMing...

After buying the Essentials Kit on a whim, then trying to run a session after convincing my family to play despite never having played a single session, or knowing what a session is supposed to look like!

When I'm not running games I'm...

Trying to help the planet one step at a time as an environmentalist, spending too much money on Pokemon cards, trying to find socks that match, and playing with fountain pens!

How Eden runs games

I try to have a balance of the pillars of D&D: roleplaying, combat, and exploration, instead of focusing on being highly focused on one. I'm a jack of all trades in that regard. I try to have some of each in every session. I love having both silly moments and dire moments in a campaign. If I had to compare my adventure vibes as dimensions in the Forgotten Realms it would be the Feywild and the Shadowfell. Like the Feywild, I love absurdity in games, where you laugh at the situations you find yourself in, where colors are vibrant and dazzling but trickery is around every corner. Sometimes the vibe is very Shadowfell, where it feels like every battle is hard won, death is just one false step away, and the tunnel to the other side is dim. In regards to combat rulings, I mostly follow rules as written for most things but as there is no such thing as a perfect system, I do feel inclined to alter some things but rules shouldn't slow down the game by more than one or two minutes at most. I also don't have all the rules memorized and I would never expect you to either, I'll likely make ruling mistakes and you will too. I hope we can laugh about it and move on when the time comes :) Theater of the mind has its uses and it can be powerful but as someone with ADHD, it can be hard to visualize scenes so I try to bring as many visuals as I can to help myself and players like me to enhance the mind's eye aspect of story telling.

I deal with rules issues by...

Having a non-confrontational discussion! Rules cases shouldn't be argumentative or negative. Although I mostly run things RAW, I try to keep an open mind when making rulings.

My games focus on...

Player driven action, and a reactive world!

Eden's ideal table

My ideal table: -Considers each other when making decisions, and has patience for others. -Appreciates tactical combat, and doesn't get too frustrated when they find themselves challenged. -Doesn't mind a session or two filled with narrative focused role play. -Are on the same wavelength when it comes to cultural references.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Dark Souls, high-fantasy anime, improv, meme culture, and the Doom (2016) soundtrack

I love it when a player

Listens to, and considers the thoughts and opinions of the other players at the table. Collaboration and teamwork are the most important aspect of TTRPGs!
