About Aaron H
Greetings, traveller! Thanks for stopping by my humble corner of the realm — if you’ve made it this far, I’d be honoured to guide you on your next great adventure. I’m a seasoned UK-based Game Master with several years of experience weaving tales both in-person and across the digital planes. From the classic tales of Dungeons & Dragons, to the mysterious worlds of Broken Compass and Candela Obscura, I’ve led brave souls through countless quests, conspiracies, and character-driven sagas. Like many adventurers, my journey began with D&D, sparked by the storytelling magic of Critical Role. But the road into the hobby wasn’t easy — finding a party, a mentor, or even a place to begin felt like a quest in itself. That’s why I now strive to be the guide I once needed: someone who welcomes newcomers with open arms, and helps them discover the magic of tabletop roleplaying in a safe, inclusive space. My GM style is roleplay-forward, with a strong focus on character development, emotional storytelling, and collaborative worldbuilding. Whether you're a first-time player or a veteran of many campaigns, I’ll work with you to craft a tale that’s rich, immersive, and uniquely yours. So, if you're ready to forge your legend, gather your dice and join me at the table — adventure awaits! ----------- NOTE: I am UK-based, and as such run games inline with GMT time zones. Running early or all-day sessions in American time-zones is possible, dependant on which side of America, and how much notice is provided.

I became a GM because
I love the world of TTRPG, and want to ensure that as many people as possible get to experience it. Whether you're into high fantasy (D&D), or dark horror (Candela Obscura), I have a system for you.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Either preparing for games, reading, or on a mountain somewhere. My life's passion aside from TTRPGs is climbing & mountaineering.
How Aaron H runs games
I run games that are tailored to the group, so whether it is a table of total beginners, or hardened adventurers, the game will shape to the players. I run one-shots, short narratives, and longer campaigns. No matter which system I am running, I aim to run narrative focused stories, which engage the players as their characters. In terms of characters, I like to build rich character arcs, giving the players a reason to care for both their character, and the wider storylines. VTTs - I only use VTTs when thee scene calls for it. most of my campaigns are run as a conversation, describing the scene and surroundings rather than using images to show every scene. I do this because I feel that it limits creativity and imagination of the players. However, when it comes to combat encounters, I will use a VTT for those sessions. My favourite systems to run include, D&D 5e, Daggerheart, and Candela Obscura.

Rules are...
The foundation for the system and a framework for the game to be run upon, but the "Rule of Cool" prevails in my games, and I won't stop a player trying to do something just because the rules say no. That said, there are limits on how much the rules can and should be bent.
Aaron H's ideal table
Laid back players are the best type of players. People there for a laugh and to have fun. I don't mind if you know the rules or not, just that you want to learn and have fun. I'm not a fan of people that challenge other players or tell them how to play their class best, or anyone that challenges the DM on every rule and function. Happy to be corrected, but not "rules lawyered" at every sentence.

I am for a vibe that's...
Chilled, here to have fun, but also keen to get into the "nitty gritty" of the campaign. I'm all for emotions at the table.
I love it when a player
Uses their imagination to solve problems and wholeheartedly takes on the role of their character. There's nothing better than when a player knows they shouldn't do something, but does it anyway as the character would.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Try to run the game for the DM. Tell other players how to play their characters best. Refuse to listen to plans other than their own.
