About me
Ray is an avid D&D player who really puts the work in when it comes to game-prep. After studying video game music composition and game design in college, they have run a number of one-shots and campaigns using the 5e system along with a few one-page RPG games. As a game designer, Ray has created a handful of homebrew races/species, subclasses, and even a couple of one-page TTRPG's of their own! Like all game masters, Ray draws influence from all types of media. Their influences include (but are not limited to): DnD Podcasts like Tales from the Stinky Dragon and The Adventure Zone, video games like The Legend of Zelda and Roadwarden, TV shows like Adventure Time, Delicious In Dungeon, and One Piece, and movies like Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Guardians of the Galaxy, and anything Studio Ghibli. If you are a fan of any of these, Ray might just have what you're looking for!
GM Style
In the past year, Ray ran a player-centric Curse of Strahd game that tied everyone along with their original backgrounds into the story. Ray is a huge audio nerd who loves actual-play podcasts and so their sessions are mostly theater-of-the-mind but to keep things immersive, these sessions are often accompanied with music and voice work. On average, Ray writes 6-10 pages for each session and really loves doing so! Ray is a large advocate for having fun above all else. If this means homebrewing your own race so you can play as a goose-folk, by all means! As a DM, games are usually 60% RP, 40% combat with exploration scattered in everywhere. And you WILL have a say in the games we play! If you are looking for a game with gritty realism or one that always abides by the rules, unfortunately, this is just not Ray's style. Here, there is a focus on storytelling and a focus on fun! There may be laughs, goofs, and things may get a little silly at times, but there will also be serious, heartfelt story beats.
