Ayy my name is Steve and I am a GM that has been specializing in Dungeons & Dragons games for newbies since 2014 (The year of its inception!). I worked primarily in healthcare for six years after graduating from university (I studied music and drama (lmao I know)) and I quit my job when I realised I could run D&D full time which is what I am currently doing now! Based in the UK, I started playing myself in 2014 when my GM, and best friend, invited me to play in one of the first modules released for 5e, Lost Mine of Phandelver. Safe to say, I was hooked from the beginning! Our game finished the same year, as Lost Mine is a short book, and I was eager to keep playing but nobody I knew wanted to run a game or knew how - So I borrowed some of my GM's books and got to reading! I quickly jumped into running one of my own games and, safe to say, I have been running games since I began without stopping. I absolutely LOVE tabletop and have delved into some other systems since then, but I have primarily been a one-trick-pony with 5e! My biggest passion is bringing newbies to the table - I fondly remember my first experience and there is something so electric about bringing a completely new experience to someone and watching them begin to "get it" - Not just understanding the game, but beginning to roleplay, talk in-character and really get into it - That is the highest honour, I believe, for any GM and it is what I am most passionate about - A safe, patient and informal approach to tabletop that is catered to the individual's experience. I got started GMing...

in 2014. I made the leap because my GM encouraged me to and that I just enjoyed D&D so much but nobody I knew ever wanted to run any games - So I took it up myself and started running games for my friends towards the end of 2014 and have done ever since!

How DM Steve (Solaire Of Astora) runs games

I tend to cater my GM style to the player's needs. I very much enjoy the Roleplay aspect of Tabletop and the mechanical combat side too, however, a strength I possess in GMing is finding the player's needs and providing an adventure that is both fun and stimulating to those players in specific. The majority of my experience in GMing has been with mechanical and combat-heavy adventures. I have GM'd for players who enjoy the combat most, who prefer storytelling and character development and those who do not particularly take the game too seriously and would rather engage with funny and silly encounters! I am all about treating players as individuals and tailoring an experience to their needs. I take a person centred approach to my style and identify exactly what a player is looking to explore in-game so as to maximise their enjoyment of the tabletop experience and to make sure their needs are catered to!
