About me
Hello, potential player! My name is Bethany, and I am the Dungeon Master for the Table Top Roleplaying Theater's "The Land of Dark Dreams" on twitch TV and Youtube, as well as Anrayne 'Ruby' Sunderstar on The Component Cast's Elendor Chronicles. I am a full time 'Professional' Dungeon Master, and you might have heard of me from the recently published article from Bloomberg. I have been playing D&D since 1997. GM Style
My DM style will include the following: - A realistic and epic adventure centered upon you, the player. - A DM who will fully narrate your setting and give it life (Including accents to the NPC's!) - A co-operative sandbox world limited only by your imagination - A 'Mercer' style D&D Adventure - focus on the narrative, the story, and the group.

I've loved D&D since my very first game. I've picked up games every night of the week, and not thought twice about it. So when I had an opening in my schedule and stumbled across Beth's game, I was just excited for the chance to start a new story from the beginning. I had no idea what was waiting for me in that first session. A world, vibrantly rich and alive, created with so much love and care that it becomes something more than maps and tokens in a VTT. She encourages players to engage with the world, to integrate themselves into it and become a vital part of the story beyond simply being the chosen heroes of the hour. More than that, Beth knows how to tell not just the heroic epics of glory and grandeur, but also a story of struggle and loss where the heroes can fail and must choose to pick themselves back up and press on. I do not know when the last time was that I shed actual tears during a session, but I did in Beth's game from the sheer depth of emotions she was able to evoke during the course of our campaign so far. It takes only a single session with Beth to see the incredible amount of planning and care that goes into her games. Maps are more than just 2D pictures, instead beautifully rendered 3D terrains within Talespire, giving the feel of actually being back at the table with friends. Ambiance is pristine, with music feeling almost tailor-made for each and every situation. She writes characters with interests and motivations outside the scope of the party that makes each and every game feel like it is taking place in a world that never truly sleeps. Stepping into one of Beth's games is to learn you are only a part of something so much larger, and she is there to be your guide and invite you along to becoming something that will leave an indelible mark on this world she's made to share with you.
Story telling is the unsurprising centerpiece of Beths games. A field for which she has a talent and clear, obvious passion as I can confidently say the quality of it is at a standard to which few GMs compare, certainly 1 or 2 at most I have ever played with, and I have played in easily tens of games with dozens of different GMs. Beth has a fantastic ability to set a scene and has a clear, comprehensive and evocative narration that perfectly communicates what the players are seeing, doing, experiencing while being more than happy to hand the reigns over to the player themselves and add their own unique dressing to the scene. Before all else, she understands the cooperative nature of telling a story in TTRPGs and is always willing to work with her player to ensure that their character feels like a part of the world and a world which feels alive at that. Her world building is very solid as well. No matter where the player go there are sure to be new and meaningful interactions be it with the NPCs, all of whom she does her best to voice act in a manner that distinguishes them from others and her voicework is only improved as I have played with her, or with the environment itself. While generally adhering to rules as written for the purposes of combat scenarios, when it comes to exploration and problem solving, Beth is more than happy for people to rule of cool their way through on occasion, not so often that the game loses any semblance of coherency, but just often enough such that ingenuity and outside the box thinking feels genuinely rewarding. To return briefly to combat, Beth has a solid understanding of the system and her rulings, as far as i am concerned, are consistently fair. She is very willing to reward player cooperation, and cooperation will be required as while not every combat is deadly, they all feel challenging. You can also expect occasional elements of puzzle solving withing combat mechanics which while some people may find tedious, I loved and felt were always pulled off masterfully. Due to many of her games taking place in the same world it is difficult to provides specifics without spoiling potential plotlines, so I appreciate this is less of a 'review' and more of an account of my time with this GM, but if you should give Beth a shot and find that you disagree with some of my sentiment, rest assured you can share any and all grievance with her and she will do her best to adapt and find a compromise to make sure you enjoy yourself. She will also routinely ask for and implement player feed back and of this I can provide a specific. Beth asked us at the end of an arc in the campaign we were playing how we felt about NPC involvement as GM pcs. I stated I preferred NPCs 'seen and not heard'as far as combat goes, as did a few others and Beth compromised by having crucial NPCs still clearly provide us some form of aid, but not at the cost of potentially taking combat spotlight away from players. Other examples include but are not limited to consistently interacting with her players between sessions to ensure they are happy with their character journey in the story thus far and experimenting with different VTTs to always improve the players experience at her table. To conclude, this GM is one I thoroughly recommend to anyone and everyone. Beth is a very passionate, experienced, competent and above all caring GM who will give you the ability to finally go on the one journey with a TTRPG character you will always look back upon fondly.
Beth is an amazing DM that allows players to be openly creative while presenting a world that is full of interesting NPCs and story arcs. I’ve never stepped away from the table disappointed in the session nor discouraged by the lack of action (both in roll playing and combat). Beth encourages engagement while making the player feel comfortable and safe. Beth has amazing maps, soundtracks, and voices to set every mood. Highly recommend!!!
