About me

I'm currently a House DM at The Kobold Lounge, where I run 3 homebrew campaigns for adults, as well as an introductory game for kids and another for teens. I started with a weekly game at my house. Shortly after I learned to play, I had to move. To keep up with my new hobby, I found and joined ahome game that was posted online. It was a terrible experience. Nobody at the table was having fun except for the DM, who delighted in playing against his party. His players looked and sounded bored, almost miserable; I never went back. Instead, I decided to start my own game with one goal: to make sure everyone has fun! -- If money is an obstacle, please DM me. I care more about us having fun than making money. I put a lot of effort into becoming the DM I am today, I make immersive, creative content that literally over a hundred players have loved & that's why I'm here. I'd like to make a living doing this, but I care about my players & that's never going to change.--- I started running my first homebrew D&D campaign in 2016. Since then I've engaged in collaborative storytelling with a ton of amazing players. I enjoy being a Sandbox DM, and I love players with unique ideas they want to try. My tables, physical and virtual, are the place to try out that crazy character idea or homebrewed subclass. I want to DM on StartPlaying to reach a wide player base, bring people together to have a blast, and provide opportunities for players everywhere to participate in my games.

GM Style

I love being a Sandbox DM. Providing my players with the environment, an overarching story and turning them loose to wreak havoc. I love roleplay, I love developing NPCs with interesting personalities and unique voices. I've run hundreds of hours of combat & I've learned a lot of tricks to hide up my sleeve. I've modified the 5e system with homebrew mechanics that I've heavily playtested, resulting in a richer and more immersive experience. I'm a "Rule of Cool" DM. Everyone having a blast is more important to me than strictly adhering to Rules As Written. That being said, it's not just pure chaos & I always love a Rules Advocate at my tables. My games are centered around intrigue, survival, and exploring the dichotomy of an extremely high magic environment, one which forces those without arcane prowess to turn to technology. Above all else, I want everyone at my tables to have an absolute blast. I hope to see you at one of my games soon, and may all your 20's be natural.

Coolest GM I've ever had. Im not very experienced but I've had problems getting into DND in the past because of inexperienced and rather boring GMs. Nug Gnome keeps my attention and encourages my silly antics (I hate feeling like I'm following a script to a tee). I find many other players in his sessions to be creative and cool as well. would not recommend to traditionalists who don't like the rule of cool. I also really appreciate a place that feels safe at the table while maintaining a mature rating for us socially conscious but drug and violence seeking enthusiasts.

Super cool idea, horrible execution. Nothing we did mattered. It was literally a roleplay for ZERO reason and then a timed event that started the fight. What is the point in getting engaged in the story and the characters if it doesn't matter. It didn't change anything. This is EXACTLY how not to do a one shot. Great voices, great world building, horrible execution. 5 hours not worth it. Probably a good campaign DM. I don't plan to find out. Horrible one shot DM.

Just played a one shot with them and it was fantastic! They set the scene perfectly, kept things relaxed and fun, and had a great sense of humor. What I really appreciated was how they gave each player the chance to shine and be themselves. It was a perfect balance of engaging and silly, and I had a blast. I mentioned that I loved puzzles and riddles at the beginning of the one shot and they worked one in for us. Very safe, welcoming and inclusive table. Highly recommend!

Nug is awesome! Very communicative, friendly, and down to work with you on homebrew. I've loved all of the games I've played with him so far, and I intend to be a regular to his games for a long time.

Some of the best campaigns and one shots I have ever played. He is very creative, rewards his players as much as he punishes them. Very imagination oriented, a lot of homebrew, remember to think out of the box.
