I got started GMing...

when I became a player in a friends game. However, I found that I wanted to GM as well. I wanted to help craft the stories and worlds that players were apart of. And honestly, I find myself enjoying GM/DMing more then being a player!

My favorite shows/movies are

mostly fantasy or scifi! Favorite movies of all time are Alien and the Thing, and I enjoy my fair share of anime, with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood probably being my favorite or one of my favorite.

My favorite system of all Time is

honestly 5th edition D&D. Sure it's not perfect but there is so much content and I'm so used to running it and still have fun with it. Nimble is a close second and I would love to run it more if I could get more people interested in it!

How John runs games

I love a healthy mixture of Roleplay and combat. Also prefer rule of cool then maintaining strict rules of how the game is played. Fun is the priority! I love to do voices, even though it may not always be done well! I always make sure each player is respected and treated fairly to the best of my ability.

important for keeping balance and having an even playing field. However, for cool moments, or if a rule hinders a game more then it helps the rules can absolutely be changed. FUN is the priority.

When it comes to voices

I do my best with providing different unique voices for characters! People always comment how well I do but honestly I just try to make the voices different enough to make the characters sound unique!

I prep by

First off having all the enemies, maps, npcs and magic items already in Foundry prepped and ready to go. I also read through characters backstories multiple times to adjust and be sure I can connect backstories and character motivations to the story.

John's ideal table

Players who are able and willing to work and get along with others and are all there for the same purpose, to have fun and work together. Honestly a table where we can all laugh together and know when to lock in for more serious moments is ideal. I have literally run games where we went from dying with laughter, to crying our eyeballs out. A table where rules are important, but if they get in the way of fun everyone is willing to change them for the benefit of everyone.

I love it when a player

thinks of creative solutions to problems before them. Especially if the creative solutions involve working with other players and getting them involved. I also love when the players get into the roleplay and are always excited to play.

I think it's a red flag when players...

try to force other players to do something they don't want to do. Or when players try to cause chaos or do something random they think is funny at the expense of other peoples fun/good times. D&D and ttrpgs in are usually team based games, everyone is working together to have a good time.

My table is not the place for...

players who are looking to be the ONLY hero and hog the spotlight all the time. In my game everyone will get a time to shine! Also my games are NOT for those looking to meet their kinks! We are all here to escape reality and go on adventures, not have awkward uncomfortable sexual moments.
