About me

Dungeon Master for Hire. Available for parties, plenty of experience. My name is Chad, and I’ve told stories in commercials, comics, and in theme parks. I’ve been an author, a copywriter, a game designer, a creative director, a Walt Disney Imagineer, and Sr. Writer for Universal Creative. I owe all of this to Dungeons & Dragons sparking the desire in me to tell stories, to create worlds, and to play. I’ve been Dungeon Mastering since I was a kid, with games run at both Imagineering and Universal Creative.

GM Style

I run a table where the rule of cool rules, where your fun is my priority, and, where we craft the story together. A table that’s equal parts role-play and rolling dice. Taverns and tussles. Mysteries and monsters. One-shots and ongoing sagas. And, of course, dungeons and dragons. But the stakes can be high. The combat can be deadly. And the stories can be epic. New players and veterans welcome. I sometimes do voices and accents, but, fair warning, I am not an actor. I often say to my players, I know how big the sandbox is, how deep the sand is, and what the major toys in it are, but you're the ones playing in it. So, it’s my sandbox but it’s your story. I'm never too precious with my plot points because what you bring to the table is just as important as what I had prepared. To switch metaphors, I approach the game as narrative jazz. As dungeon master, I start the bass line and everyone gets to riff on it. Where my players take me is often interesting and unexpected, and that’s the fun for me. That's the goal, to have fun. So, let's have some fun.

I've been playing at Chad's D&D table for two and a half years and have had a blast every single session. He weaves awesome tales and rich worlds but because his first priority is for the players to have fun, he leaves plenty of room for the players to explore, grow, and be a part of the story. Can't recommend enough.

Aside from being an award-winning screenplay writer, published author, and professional musician, Chad is an epic nerd. He is wildly creative and chill af which makes him just the guy to lead your well-crafted characters to their DOOM. Chad works and plays with us, not against us. He allows us to help craft the tale and takes cues from our conversations as both characters and players to add on-the-spot twists and turns in our adventures. This does not mean he lets us win. Chad does not pull any punches, but he approaches DM’ing from the standpoint of crafting a story rather than “Us vs. Him.” It is a symbiotic and collaborative relationship and it makes for insanely fun gameplay. Furthermore, Chad is unflappable. He cannot be flapped. He’s quick, thinks on his feet, and is not afraid to change plans as needed on the fly. Lastly, and it’s sad I have to say this, but as a female gamer, (if you know, you know), I can 100% endorse Chad as safe to game with. This is perhaps one of his finest qualities. He’s respectful and inclusive and the kind of gamer you genuinely enjoy being around. 100/10. Highly, highly recommend.

Chad does an excellent job of creating a universe that is fun for the group and develops a world and a realm that is vast and extremely interactive. He ensures the characters will develop and he allows them autonomy in making the decisions.

Chad's gaming style is to present a complex world where lots of things are going on, then let the players figure out how they want to interact with that world. SO MANY PLOT THREADS will be there that, well, it's kind of like children in toy stores or candy stores... He has a strong grasp of game mechanics -- enough that he's able to answer questions quickly without interrupting the game and yet also comfortable enough to wing it without it seeming awkward or out of place. And he's an excellent storyteller able to bring real suspense and edge-of-the-seat concern about how things will play out. NPCs that seem like real people, not just 2-dimensional backgrounds? Don't worry about it! He's got that covered, too. TL;DR: Chad is an excellent GM and you will most definitely enjoy any session he runs.

Chad is an incredibly knowledgeable and creative G.M. He truly gives the players freedom to create their own world. Encounters are always challenging but most importantly, fun. I highly recommend Chad to run your games. My personal experience with Chad has been (and is currently) with various versions of D&D. It has always been a great experience.

Chad is the only GM I’ve ever had and I feel spoiled for it having been the case. We’ve been on the same dnd game for nearly three years, and Chad’s innovation, improvisation, and imagination are unparalleled. I know well enough now that it’s not normal to have my GM be a professional writer and I’ve been so lucky to have that experience. I always look forward to seeing what he has in store for our crew. It’s ever evolving, and seems that the universe he’s built out has an answer for any question we ask or a path for any direction we take. My sincere hope is that we can keep this journey going as long as humanly possible. In fact even a pandemic hasn’t kept us from playing! As we still play using a myriad of remote technologies. Chad is awesome!!!
