About Tav
Welcome, adventurers! My name is Tav (short for Tavish, so no relation to any BG3 default characters) I am a Professional Dungeon Master based out of Los Angeles, with a love for fantasy, frogs, and wizard hats. I've been running professional games for 5+ years now, with dozens of campaigns under my belt and hundreds of satisfied players. I can’t wait to start building a world with you!

When I'm not running games I'm...
brewing mead, drinking mead, smoking a pipe, playing the hurdy gurdy, and whittling wooden charms to ward off the cryptids that haunt me.
How Tav runs games
Whether it's a dank dwarven dungeon, a horrific haunted house, or a classic castle crawl, I love running games that are dramatic with characters who take advantage of both their strengths and their flaws. Characters - I encourage exciting and original character concepts, flavorful descriptions of abilities, and complex backstories. I also love simple, classic tropes that fulfill any long-held fantasies. Combat - It's fun to roll dice and hit things! I believe the best combat encounters are dramatic, complex, and challenging while still being fair. Roleplay - Speaking in character, doing fun voices, and improvising whimsical or dramatic scenarios are some of my favorite aspects of TTRPGS!

I deal with rules issues by...
quickly asking the table what they think is fair, making my own suggestion, establishing a quick ruling, and then looking up the rules as written after the session. I'd much rather focus on playing and having fun - not arguing about the rules.
Rules are...
great to establish a shared expectation and experience, and even better when we all agree it's time to break them!
Tav's ideal table
My ideal table is a group who love stories and want to push the game in the most dramatic, cinematic, and fun directions. There's a time and place for everything - roleplay and improvisation, tactical decisions and strategic combat, character arcs and tense decisions. The ideal table gives space to all of these things and more, and the players lift each other up and want to see everyone having fun. Beyond that; communication, respect, flexibility, and just general thoughtfulness are a must.

I love it when a player
asks "can I try..." or "what if..." with an open and curious mind, while also understanding that sometimes the answer will be "no, but..."
I think min/maxing...
can be a lot of fun, as long as it's not at the expense of the story or other players. A character can be optimized to fulfill a fantasy, but there's also a lot of fun to be had by leaning into flaws and failing! The best heroes in any story have both highs and lows.
My table is not the place for...
aggressiveness, disrespect, or selfishness.
