About me
Hi! My name is Dean and I’ve been running 5e since 2015 and have been playing since 2014. I have an ongoing campaign that has been running weekly since 2019 set in D&D’s first setting, Greyhawk. I have a broad array of interests ranging from sports to ancient history. I am open to running one shots or ongoing adventures and I run my games in Foundry. I have access to most maps from published 5e adventures. I am comfortable running both modules and homebrew, and in the case of the latter am open to collaboratively building a world or city with the players in a specialized session or two. I started hosting games as a way to meet new people within my busy schedule and spend more time doing something I love!
GM Style
While I initially got into GMing to run combat focused games my style has evolved greatly over the last 9 years. My style varies based on what the story dictates and the sort of game the players are looking to play. I have found that generally the best games are well rounded ones that touch each of the three pillars of gameplay: Combat, Exploration, and Social Interaction. Like tactical combat with goals beyond simply “kill the bad guys?”. That’s great! I have run hundreds of sessions like that in my own home games. Are you more into political intrigue, and discovering/dismantling the machinations of power players in a city or kingdom? Wonderful! The last full arc in my ongoing campaign had my players navigate the schemes of their kingdom’s spymaster. If you love the roleplay side of DND, I will engage with you wholeheartedly in that characters voice. I have run hundreds of sessions at this point that were entirely social interaction, including a series of regency sessions where players designed their own outfits. Prefer adventuring into the unknown? I have run dozens of sessions that are purely hexploration and random encounters, and really enjoy the story elements that come about by way of pure chance. As far as themes/genres go, my games tend to have pretty broad themes and range from low to high fantasy. I prefer to not hone in too much of any one genre so that we can incorporate genres like horror, and give space for levity in a way that feels organic.
