About me

Hey! I'm Jake, a 24 y/o DM that has been running campaigns since 2019. I specialize in D&D 5e and have multiple multi-year completed campaigns under my belt. If you're looking for someone to run a module or homebrew campaign with an emphasis on keeping things fun and inclusive for everyone, I'm a great choice. No matter the setting, no matter the duration, I'll do my best to craft a story that your party will tell tales about for years to come.

GM Style

I try my best to be a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to GMing. If your group is looking for crunchy combat-focused gaming, I can run that. However, if you're looking instead for a grand adventure of diverse characters and roleplay, I am happy to run that as well.

Gave me my cool anime main character moment AND let me romance an NPC he then had to play the entire game. What more could a girl want?

Jake is the best storyteller and writer I've ever played with. He has shown us a lot of creative flexibility in the games I've played with him that are more just the fantasy genre - as we've also played the cyberpunk genre while still adapting to 5e rules. What truly matters in his games is that everyone has fun, and he excels at keeping the story on track while letting the goofy moments happen but not too rampant where it can boil over to being unfun - accommodating the group's dynamics and knowing how to keep it fun. Each town and NPC he creates feels distinct and memorable; his creativity and improvisational skills are so fun to play with; having it at our disposal, we love to get up to shenanigans that he has to improvise. There are numerous instances I could talk about where Jake had done something that made a scene so memorable or impressive to me as a DM, with the way he narrates and his story NPCs taking such an influential role in shifting the story and our character's perspectives. I love the fast improvisation he has when acting out NPCs and his ability to not take this game so seriously and adapt to the silliness of the group while not letting it run too rampant where it derails the game; I love it. During COVID, we had taken advantage of our new free time to play so many sessions of D&D with Jake that we played until we HAD to stop as he had lost his voice from talking and narrating so much. But, if I had to choose one, my favorite memory involves a campaign I joined midway. I joined a bit later into the campaign than everyone else and had told Jake, "I'll just be the background character and support them from behind," which I had said because I was feeling anxious about taking the spotlight and stepping on any toes. However, towards the end of the campaign, Jake had remembered my words and put my character at the very center of the spotlight. The bad guy we were facing captured the rest of the party, leaving my character to lead and make vital decisions that initially had me freaking out. But with this slow process of having me make these decisions and really flesh out my character, I attribute it to my "breaking out of the eggshell moment," and that helped me grow as a player but also gave me a new appreciation for D&D. It was an unforgettable character arc of mine that truly transformed the rest of my experience as a player and deepened my love for the game. Then, oh my god, the ending of that campaign: One of us had to make a sacrifice, and our paladin volunteered. Despite our objections, with another party member who wanted to take his place, a dice roll sealed the argument, leading to a heart-wrenching conclusion that left us all in tears where we "technically won," but we lost so much. I love this man, and I think you'll love him too. He's a creative whose brain I love to pick at, D&D-related or not.

Jake was such a good DM I invited him to move in with me. I've played several campaigns with him, and his skill as a storyteller and lore creator is miles beyond any other DM I've played with. My most memorable campaign with him, I played as an artificer with a small quadcopter drone. He was willing to bend the rules to allow it, while also finding unique ways to incorporate my characters backstory into the story he created. Further, the twist at the end was very unexpected, clever, and even incorporated ideas hinted at early on. I was highly invested in his voice acting and interesting characters. He even helped outside the game, pointing out flaws my character had, like abysmally low stats and not using as many abilities as allowed, which made my first "real" game incredible. Outside the game, he actively seeks out ideas for later campaigns, and finds ways to incorporate you real skills into the game. He also isn't afraid to reject poor ideas, and intervened when one player, against the table's wishes, tried to incorporate different kinds of fantasies. I can't recommend Jake's storytelling skills enough!

Jake is an incredible DM with years of experience with DND. He is an expert in both creating a safe and fun experience for new players as well as presenting a well made game to veterans of ttrpgs. If you are looking for a DM with a love of storytelling, an in depth knowledge of the rules, and a desire to make sure that all of their players are having a good time then look no further.

BE WARNED, Once you have Jake as a GM no other will ever compare. when it comes to story telling, twists, letting some fun and goofy moments happen and giving you a challenge that isn't going to nuke your party but still make you bite your nails with that oh dear, oh my what if. this is your guy. on top of all of that he's very dedicated to his craft. he will spend as much time as needed plus more to make sure you have the best experience you can.
