About Damien
🎲 Roleplayer and GM of over 30 years in a variety of gaming systems 🎲 . . . my love for TTRPGs was sparked when I was 13 years old with the introduction to AD&D 2nd edition at a small, local comic book shop I randomly stopped in. Since then I have run and played in countless games for all ages and types of players, coordinated small local gaming conventions, GMed at large gaming conventions, and never lost the love for roleplaying. New to StartPlaying as a platform in order to supplement the cost of books and materials to invest back into this hobby and passion of mine, but also to have the opportunity to meet and roleplay with new and interesting people from all over. As I am now older, with a career and family, getting out of the house and being away all weekend to travel to conventions or spending long hours on a weekend at the local gaming shop simply isn't an option. I see this as the perfect platform to fit my availability, while still making myself broadly accessible for the player base at large. Here is to hoping I get to connect with you!

I got started GMing...
My GM journey began at the age of 13 when I discovered AD&D at a local comic book store. The art and content of the books that consumed the back wall of the shop had me immediately asking the owner about it. I was invited observe/join their Sunday game at the shop, and here I am now 30 year later.
How Damien runs games
I bring a love for roleplay in-game, both during social interactions as well as during combat. Character voicing, sound effects and background music are the fun part for me of establishing immersion for you, the player. I encourage and reward players who add to the gaming experience, whether during the game or with supporting materials outside of gaming sessions (managing party inventory, mini character journals between sessions, etc.). Most of all, I love to give my players the freedom to play the character they envision. After all, we're all here to have fun together!

Rules are...
My perspective on rules are that they should be used as loose guard rails to maintain a level of balance. That said, the point of the game is to collectively enjoy the experience of collaborative storytelling. Players & GMs should suggest alternative ways of accomplishing interesting storytelling.
When it comes to voices
I thoroughly enjoy preparing, practicing, and imparting unique voices to my characters in order to fully immerse my players in the narrative experience.
