About Ubaldo

Hi! My name's Ubaldo and I do these TTRPGS! It's been great fun and I can't wait to share it with you! ## Immersion I do high-immersion gameplay. You can expect to go deep into your character's emotions and worldview; and if that's not your thing, don't worry! I don't overdo it, and i always help people warm up and be on whatever level of immersion they like best. ## Challenge I always find that mental challenge for the players hits harder and provides more fun than pure mechanical difficulty. In roleplay scenarios, expect challenging interactions where someone's always trying to be louder, faster or more devious than you. You'll meet challenging scenarios and make difficult decisions! In exploration, the world's your oyster and you'll always find a way to do what you're trying to without dying to the werewolves! And in combat, be ready to cook up a plan! And a good one! Mechanically difficult fights are all fine and good, but you'll always find another obstacle in your way, and if you don't figure it out, you might as well call in an airstrike for an the good fighting is gonna do you! ## Social dynamics and general vibe Despite how I'm writing this, I'm a very informal person! I always come prepared and I enjoy my prep work, but I'm a very laid-back guy! At my table, you can expect a steady stream of dopamine and no room for negativity or bad vibes! Historically, the people that vibe with me are very supportive and compassionate, and so am I! You'll find a welcoming environment, and a safe atmosphere. ## Feedback The group will be interrogated every week to provide feedback and constructive criticism!! On most weeks my groups have no suggestions to make and generally say things are going pretty great (which is a good sign!), but we keep at it and once in a while we have killer suggestions. ## Player Requests For every major adventure or Arc, I always put in what the players ask for in terms of custom NPCs, plot themes, challenge level, or specific factions! So, expect to put in some cool stuff and get that dopamine! ## Afterword Well, that's it! I'm about done and if any of this intrigues you, shoot me a DM!

I ran my first game...

As an overplanned Shadowrun oneshot that taught me I'm definitely not a Rules-as-written guy XD. I'm a vibes first GM and I didn't know it at the time, so it took me a while to find out.

How Ubaldo runs games

Here are some logistical details: ## Rules Stance I love not having to write the whole system from scratch! However, I really just treat the rules as a great timesaver we can all agree on (and that fits the setting). Generally, we really just figure stuff out when there's no written guidelines for something; or when there are but I or somebody else thinks it ain't good enough. I also do a small amount of homebrew for VtM combat. ## Types of Adventures I can do Besides the specifics of each campaign, and depending on requests for upcoming Arcs, I can run 3 styles of gameplay: 1. plot-focused, with big, immersive adventures based on the setting so progression; 2. player-focused, with requested opportunities for players to delve into their characters' lives, flaws and challenges; 3. or Sandbox, where the players select a series if things to do or themes to explore, and I turn it into a series of oneshot or two-shot adventures. ## Session Length My sessions usually go between 4.5 and 6 hours. Most finish at the 5 hour mark 👍 ## Virtual Tabletops (VTT), & Theater of the Mind (ToM) As of writing this, I only run World of Darkness TTRPGs, and since they mesh well with ToM, I do not currently use any VTTs like Roll20 or Foundry. I hope to do so in the near future, though, and am currently experimenting in private games to get used to running them at a high level!

Ubaldo's ideal table

I love people passionate about progressing their characters emotionally, and in their life trajectory. My ideal game is one where the setting provides a believable, breathing framework where the characters can find themselves and fight to steer their lives and the setting where they want to go.

I love it when a player

Cooks up a killer plan that gets past challenges the party had no right winning so hard in.
