About William
I've been playing tabletop RPGs since 2006, when I first jumped behind the screen to run the old Decipher Lord of the Rings RPG. I dabbled across different systems for years, but since 2020 I've been consistently GM-ing and playing, with a particular love for D&D 5e and grounded fantasy storytelling. I've run D&D 5e, Star Wars Saga Edition, 7th Sea 2nd Edition, The One Ring, and Lord of the Rings d20. My style leans heavily into narrative, roleplay, character choices, and memorable dramatic moments, while still keeping room for tactical, thematic combat. I enjoy encounters that matter to the story; not fights that grind the table to a halt for three hours. I'm comfortable with both homebrew and published adventures, but I've found my real strength is taking a published module and tailoring it to the party so the players feel like the story is truly theirs. I want every table to feel like they are part of an amazing story where their characters can succeed, fail, grow, and leave behind moments everyone remembers. New players are absolutely welcome at my table. I always start with a session zero, keep communication open, and make space for content boundaries and player comfort. My games generally stay around a PG-13 tone: serious, dramatic, and immersive without needing to be gratuitous. Outside the table, I'm a dad and professional communicator, and I bring that same patience, clarity, and collaborative spirit into the games I run.

How William runs games
My games are built around story first. I want players to feel like their characters are real. Their choices shape the world, their relationships change the tone of the campaign, and their victories and failures both become part of the larger story. You can expect strong roleplay, meaningful NPCs, and a table where character motivations are taken seriously. I enjoy giving players room to talk, plan, investigate, argue, laugh, grieve, and make bold choices. I especially love grounded fantasy: magic, monsters, and heroism are present, but they feel connected to the world instead of floating above it. I also have a lot of combat in my games, but I do not believe every fight needs to be a long tactical slog. I prefer thematic encounters with clear stakes, interesting terrain, monster personality, and consequences beyond "reduce everything to zero hit points." Some fights are dangerous, some are strange, and some are meant to reveal something about the world or the characters. I want combat to feel cinematic, tense, and memorable without taking over the entire session. I also like tailoring published adventures to the actual party. Backstories, decisions, fears, victories, and even mistakes can all become party of the campaign. My goal is for players to leave a session thinking, "That felt like our story." New players are welcome. I explain rules clearly, keep the tone collaborative, and run a session zero so everyone understands the style, boundaries, and expectations.
