About Garboar
My name is Thorn and I am a 31 year old husband and pet dad. I enjoy a wide range of activities. I love gaming, music, cooking, traveling, and learning. I have been playing D&D for 10 years now, and have had the privilege of being a DM for the last 9 of those years. Prior to playing D&D, I had a good understanding of what the game was. I studied with books and the internet to learn as much as I could and I had a strong desire to experience it for myself. The only issue was, I had no friends that shared my interest. Then I found a local game store and decided to give it a try. I was quickly welcomed by the community and immediately fell in love with the game. Realizing that I had a passion for TTRPGs, after a year of playing, I noticed I had a huge interest in becoming a DM. I've been running games ever since. It's my favorite role and I always look forward to my games. I put a great deal of thought and effort into my stories, characters, and voices.

How Garboar runs games
I encourage my players to approach each game with their own unique creativity. I like to encourage character roleplaying to grow and enrich the story and create interaction between players. This allows my party to feel confident with each other and embrace what each member brings to the table. What I love most about roleplay, is when players have a connection with their character, and engage by asking questions about the world. I tend to have tactical combats that allow for environmental challenges and player interaction. As to what makes my DMing style unique, I like to encourage my players to find eccentric solutions and to emphasize the rule of cool with an understanding that there will be consequences but not crucial outcomes for messing up. I'd rather treat these as learning experiences so my players can better understand their limits.
