About Torii

Played for many years, DMed for many more. 15+ years on both sides, played quite a few TTBGs & TTRPGs as well. I'm more of a world builder with a very logical mindset. I'm very fair, I love the rule of cool within possiblity. I run a tight ship, and like a serious atmosphere within my games. Not saying there is no room for joking, I just really like the world and RP side of things. Beyond that, I'm a super nerd with a passion to read and memorize everything but i dislike rule lawyers quite a lot. I probably won't host more then one game at a time, and I normally try to make my games last for a very long time. Consistency is more important that anything else. Please, please, please, just show up. I truly find it hard to play if even one of my players is missing as it completely destroys the flow and feeling, the team is a group for a reason.

How Torii runs games

Rule of cool over Rule lawyer Logical over emotional World builder & story builder Hundreds of pages of google docs on world building, plot threads, side quests, and NPCs. Normally I build for 6-8 months before I start a game. If you want a world that feels alive and well thought out, I'm that guy. I struggle with interpersonal connections, so forgive me if my NPCs aren't the most charming. Or don't crack the best jokes. I love laughing and I have a good humor for all things, I just can't be funny for some reason. But I can promise they will be extremely believable and well fleshed out within the world. With fully thought through backgrounds. I'll always let you try, but that doesn't mean you will always succeed. I play by logic most times, unless I think a outcome is more reasonable then logical. This allows the players to experiment and have fun while staying grounded. I think failure, scars, and even death can be fun, even rewording. I don't normally turn a blind eye just for the players safety. Be smart, plan ahead, and you will be reworded not only in your progress but by me the DM. Rush ahead, and don't think about the consequences? Well, all I can say is reality is harsh. I don't like just giving things out for free as I think the fight or struggle for progress or items is it's own reward. Climbing that mountain isn't as fun when when it's just given to you for free. With all that said, the thing that separates me the most is this: I play D&D/TTRPGs to escape INTO another world. That means the stress, the fear, the joy, and the triumph. I don't play it to just joke around and have fun for a few hours. I put months of my time into these games to truly escape into them and life a second life. If you like that? If you want to cry, laugh, love, and hate. Then Join me. If not? Then I wish you the best.
