About Cable
I’m Cable! I've always been a total nerd with a wild imagination and needed a space to work out artistic feeling and endeavors without just writing endless sappy prose and never published fantasy novellas. While playing and being able to create and develop characters in video games and TTRPGs scratched the itch, I found that running games and being able to DM really blew the doors wide open for me in terms of learning how to develop worlds and characters and even some real life relations. My approach to DMing TTRPGs has always been that the story matters! I love being able to create a world or setting that leaves space for another person's character to slip in and change perspectives, hearts, and the world around them. I think rules are important as a framework but sticking to them too closely or too loosely can get in the way of the stories we are trying to tell together. I myself started playing when I was just a kid with some close friends that I was able to truly express myself with and start to learn how to think outside the box in terms of story development and satisfaction with myself and the art I make with others. With the D&D 5e renaissance, I was able to rope in a new group of friends to listen to me wax poetic about the worlds we could build and share together. That comes with tears, deep belly laughs, and the strengthening of bonds with your fellow humans in the real world. I'd love to have you (yes, YOU!) at my table.

How Cable runs games
My games usually start with a module or idea that a table can rally around and really sink their teeth into. From there, I work with players to create unique and individual characters in these worlds with connections to the setting they find themselves within. Beyond that, I take the module or idea as an outline to create special, one of a kind places that the players know they have the ability to change and affect for a story that transcends what any singular one of us has the capacity to create on our own. I want to make something we can get lost in and experience together. Roleplay sits at the core of what we'll make together. The characters may be heroes or total nobodies that find themselves in a whirlwind of crazy events where what they say and do matters with ripples of their actions spreading into a living world around them. Combat is crafted with their abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and goals at the heart of every encounter. I try to keep things dynamic by adding special rules and events to each particular session. With the occasional bending of rules to maintain the status quo of the holy "Rule of Cool." Exploration and puzzle solving are also important for those intermediary moments where players can learn more about the world around them and their own characters. The most important part of each session? Have a grand ol' time! I want you to leave sessions thinking, "Oh, come on! Just a little more!"
