About Ferden

A Game Master, Dungeon Master, or otherwise Entertainer brings to the table a variety of things. Some bring modules, dice, and digital maps with dynamic lighting and animated effects. Some use strictly Theatre of the Mind. Some stream their content. And some don't. Some others stand out, creating homebrew worlds like a moonshine sommelier trying Honey and Nuts for the first time. Whether they stand out because their content is incredible or bizarre is to the eye of the beholder - And if thats what you want to encounter, that can be arranged. But if you prefer to have something that is Unique, not available to the public, and a bit more "simple" in the Graphics department - Lets talk. I'll even set you up with some inspiration, advantage, or dubs on our interactions. Specializing in the 40% Human gaming system, I have ample experience with 5e 2014, and pathfinder 1st edition. For a dedicated group, I would be willing to learn a new system. My personal experience over the decades will provide you with an ample plethora of imaginative content to choose from or direct. Available most morning, afternoons and evenings, Feel free to reach out. Mention reading this far, and I'll consider giving a discounted rate

My favorite books are

Hitchikers guide to the galaxy, a trilogy in 5 parts Good Omens Snowcrash Foundation and Empire Blind Watchmaker

My favorite system of all Time is

40% Human, but I'll admit I'm biased - I'm the creator! Available for free on my website 4d6.ca, I would be ever so happy to run games using this system! Easier math, more character customization, more opportunity! But 5e 2014 and pathfinder 1st edition are pretty cool too.

When I'm not running games I'm...

probably creating them! Whether world building, moment expanding, generic additions or fleshed out details, I am consistently improving my own methodology and verses

How Ferden runs games

30% content 40% Improvisation 30% response I play a bit loose, with focus towards progression and individual engagement. There are many opportunities for the party to engage with each other on their own will, but I like to engage the players directly. This allows everyone to share the spotlight, and keeps progression flowing in a manner most enjoy. I also pay attention to what my players discuss and engage with, and respond accordingly. If you are given a prompt to hunt a dragon and instead want to legalize gay marriage, lets do it. I do have limits, and never intend to make a person uncomfortable with any more than a "spine chill" or "goosebumps".

I deal with rules issues by...

Directly exposing when a rule has been broken, re-iterating why it is a rule, and enforcing a strict 2-strike policy. Sometimes education is necessary. Other times, firm boundaries are.

My games focus on...

Story, player experience, and progressive cohesion. We work together to make it all happen.

When it comes to voices

I have a million and one. Sometimes a generic NPC can be bland and boring, but most characters that we will engage with have some kind of personality to imbibe - Often to humorous effect

Ferden's ideal table

My ideal table involves players that focus on working together, sharing the spotlight, and don't interrupt each other. I'm not into bigotry or hatred, but I do have a large vocabulary and like to use it where possible. Depending on comfort level with group is often how graphic I will become. If I'm working with 13-17 years, I try to keep things pg-13. If there are no overt concerns and all consenting adults, I am willing to adapt. But I won't do anything that involves hurting kids, or doing something to upset someone in particular. I see this as a group game and team effort - but that isn't to say I pull punches! The dice are merely my way of describing the events unfolding - and a few bad rolls is all it may take to "get another character sheet". If I could hand-pick my audience, people who take notes and get invested in what we are doing would really make me happy. The more involved my audience is with me, the more I want to be involved with them.

I am for a vibe that's...

All about Us. You, the player next to you, me. The setting, the conflicts, the rollplay. The combat, dice rolls, loot, skills and saves. Skirting death and rising above. Having "that moment" to remember for years to come. Making "It" happen, whatever "it" may be, for all of Us. And you, and me.

I love it when a player

Gets invested in what we are all doing! The more immersed a player lets themselves become, often the better the game is overall. Taking notes and just enjoying what the moment currently is and letting the rest go by in our fantasy worlds leads to a memorable experience for all

My table is not the place for...

bigotry or hatred in general. We're not here for any real-world religion/politics or anything similar, or isolating any one group from any thing. Fiction of various sorts is our defacto setting
