About me

Hi, I'm Andrew, thanks for checking out my profile! For me, roleplaying games are about exploring situations that we don't often get to experience in our every day lives. Not many of us can call down lightning from the sky, or go toe to toe with immortal swordlords. Not many of us have experienced the complete isolation that comes with godlike magical powers, or the blood simmering rage of centuries old feuds, either. My goal as a GM is that we all leave the table having experienced something completely outside of our mundane lives, with everyone having as much fun as possible. I've been running convention games and public one shots for a couple years now, and I'm excited to dip into the world of online games. I'll be sticking with Runequest for now, but will consider broadening out as I become more familiar with the format.

GM Style

Things I like to do: *Collaboration. In my experience the best games have everyone contributing equally to the telling of the story, rather than the GM taking the lions share of plot development. I want to help you tell YOUR story, not make you a character in one of my own. *Fantastical Action. We are here to tell the stories of larger than life heroes, great adventurers with near super human capabilities. Anything that gets in the way of us experiencing that fantasy will be scrapped, whether that be overly constraining rules, or excessive dice crunching. *Grand Stories. I am a sucker for epics. The campaigns I run are often slow burning, but by the twentieth session when we're making call backs to decisions that were made in the first, it will all be worth it. *Maximum Game Fun. At the end of the day we're all here to have a good time, and I am more than happy to change any aspect of the game on the fly if it is not enjoyable. Things I do not like to do: *Strict adherence to rules. I enjoy complex games, as they give an abundance of systems from which we can pick and choose what we particularly enjoy. Imagine it like carving a beautiful statue out of a block of marble. Playing any game strictly by the book is not something I have ever seriously considered. *Cheap shocks. I will never use distressing material as a cheap shortcut to getting an emotional response. We can do better.
