About me

I've been running D&D 5e since 2019, and since then have also tried out Chasing Adventure, Monster of the Week, and D&D 4e. I run a fairly laid-back game: I try to let players use the Rule of Cool, and want them to overcome the struggles in the awesome stories we tell together. I aim for a collaborative experience; for me, TTRPGs are not about "winning" the game or "beating" the players at the game. I run games for adults and teenagers, and for new and experienced players both. I'm a high school teacher, love playing video games, practice martial arts, and read lots of Fantasy.

GM Style

I aim for a good mix of combat and roleplay in my sessions, with as much exploration as we can squeeze into them. My favorite part of the game is combat, especially the "crunchy tactical" stuff. It's also important to me though that the characters interact with the rest of the game too; making friends and alliances, exploring forgotten dungeons, avoiding traps, and becoming true heroes along the way. I (hope) I am the exact opposite of a combative GM: I want you to win, and only put the types of challenges that will be fun for you, and make you feel awesome as you overcome them. If we can streamline something through the narrative instead of being caught in the weeds of mechanics, we should so we can stay on the fun parts as much as possible. I don't do too many voices, and often narrate a character's dialogue/ actions instead; I'm not a great actor. I definitely won't stop you from it though, if that's how you play. I also try to give a lot of clarity and distinction between *character* and *player* knowledge; it's no fun for anyone when the plan backfires because something wasn't explained right.
