About Andrew
Andrew "Hoots" Rieder-Van Hout lives with his partner and two dogs in the suburbs of Milwaukee County, WI. One of his earliest memories was learning to read using The Complete Book of Humanoids and The Complete Book of Elves both published in 1993. Since then, Andrew has GM'd most editions of D&D and a few D&D-adjacent games, which his current favorite of the whole bunch being Shadowdark. He also has a soft spot for science fiction and he has run quiet a bit of the modern incarnation of Traveller (Mongoose Second Edition specifically, but liberally borrowing mechanics and inspiration ranging from Classic Traveller to Cepheus System). Andrew has also dabbled running games in GURPS, Savage Worlds, Vampire the Masquerade, Numenera/Cypher System, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk Red, he has played in dozens and dozens of one-shots, and he has read countless other systems that reside in his digital DriveThruRPG library that keeps expanding with the implicit threat that it'll become sentient and take over the planet some day. Andrew generally runs games in person and at a physical table, though he uses digital tools to schedule and manage out of game activities. West Allis, WI United States Terra (Solomani Rim 1827)

How Andrew runs games
I've been deeply inspired by the OSR movement and I prefer to prepare and think about the world and interesting scenarios and problems rather than "plot." I tend to weave a middle ground between tactical combat and theater of the mind, and I tend to be loose with rules rather than strict with them. Mostly, I value collaboration with the people I'm playing with and I will generally feed off the energy players put into games.
